Knife Chick on Youtube

My personal opinion about Kaila (speaking as one of her subscribers) is that is that she very attractive and also seriously likes knives (if she was faking it, that would come through). Based on the popularity of knife videos on YouTube, I think the fact is that an attractive woman reviewing knives she knew nothing about could get a lot of views, but that isn't the case here. It's not her fault she is attractive (and, having only recently discovered the comedian Doug Stanhope, I consider myself to be speaking as one of the world's most discriminated against minorities, the unattractive, despite the fact that we are actually the majority :highly_amused:). If you watch her video of photos taken of her at 2014 Shot Show, I think she is definitely playing up her attractiveness, but on the other hand, her young daughter makes occasional (what I consider) annoying appearances in her videos, and if she was just about selling her attractiveness to get views, I don't think this would be happening.

She is learning and has passion. I respect that!Everyone should have a hobby and something they own and are passionate about in life.More power to her!

Playing with her hair as she slings info on the internet that isn't even technically correct half of the time.

So you are saying that 50% of all the specs she gives on knives are incorrect? Being a little harsh aren't you?

I enjoy her videos and have bought several knives she has reviewed based on her and other reviews.

I've watched some of her videos on the past, but lately she hasn't really covered anything I especially care about so I've kinda lost interest. She does play up her looks in some of her videos, but I do think she's genuinely into the hobby, as well. If you're just wanting to get a lot of subscribers and youtube views there are easier(and cheaper) ways to do it than buying and reviewing blades from Brous, Snody, etc...that's really catering to a niche crowd, and not the sort of knives you buy if you aren't into knives as a hobby.

She's the chick that convinced me to get a CRKT Heiho.

At the time, I don't think she was making knives. Looks like she is well on her way and wish her luck.

Yeah but come on, "kaila cumings". You look me in the eye and tell me that doesn't sound like a tacky Adult Entertainment alias. Also half her videos are as much about her cleavage as they are about knives. Playing with her hair as she slings info on the internet that isn't even technically correct half of the time.

I'm pretty sure she's a nice person but she needs to work on her story and her appearance if she wants to be taken more seriously

Oh could not agree more. You definitely have a great point.

Ed Fowler had a lady who studied and worked in his shop to become a journeyman bladesmith. She is quite lovely and makes beautiful forged knives.

Shouldn't we be treating everybody that is interested in knives the same regardless of their gender or how attractive we find them?

Let me tell you, from experience ;), that people commenting on your attractiveness rather than your ability/skill in something that interests you gets old fast. Sometimes you just feel like a nicely arranged sack of meat rather than a person who is genuinely interested in something. If I had a channel/blog/show about knives that I put a lot of effort into and a significant portion of the comments where based on how attractive/unattractive I am, I would be pretty off-put by the whole thing.

Female knife reviewers have to put up with a lot more than most guys will ever realize. Please be as kind to them as you would be to anyone else.
