Knife Choice Dilemma

Hey everyone,

I have a dilemma with choosing a knife. As you know, it's tax season, and I got a pretty solid return. Most of it went to a new computer, but I have just enough left over to buy a new knife (150 dollars, to be exact). My wife is letting me use the remaining 150 on a new knife and not a penny more.

So here's a problem...I picked up a ZT 0620 and a Benchmade 520SBK Presidio, both from a reputable dealer and both under 150. I can only keep one, and I am leaning towards the Benchmade because the ZT just doesn't "fit" me well...I can't explain it. I have had awesome experience with Benchmade in the past, and they have NEVER let me down before. I also considered saving some dough and returning both for a full size Griptilian.

What would you do in this situation? Keep the ZT? Keep the BM? Get the Grip? Get something different entirely?

The knife will be used for basic EDC and occasional use while on patrol. I want the knife to be good for normal tasks as well as a good backup last ditch self defense tool in a pinch (IE while on patrol). I don't want anything over 3.6 for blade length.

As I already said, I love Benchmade and have a few of their offerings, but mostly autos. I am not a big fan of the Spyderco designs either. Of note, I am a big proponent of lifetime warranties and I love a company that takes good care of their customers, as I am hard on my knives and go through many clips and such (getting in and out of a car frequently can wreak havok on clips).

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Thanks!

EDIT: I prefer non auto as I have many already. Manual and assisted are fine, just not auto. Thanks!

I'd get one of the best autos in the world. A Protech TR3.

You can get a fancier knife for more money, but it'd be a hard sell to get me to believe that you can get a better one.

That does seem like a sweet knife...I should have mentioned, though, I am looking for non-auto...I have many of those already. I'll edit my post. Thanks!

I'd keep the Presidio then. It's a great knife.

Do yourself a favor though. The next time your wife loosens the purse strings, buy a Protech. You'll thank me, I promise you.

Protech does now offer the Tr-5 non-auto. It is assisted, with a Mathew lerch designed lock.
It's just plain outstanding!!
