Haven't seen a New Post your knives thread lately. This is a post of your knife in the outdoors.

Thread Rules
i) Something you carry regularly.
ii) Describe who's the maker (can be production or custom) and model.
iii) Why do you carry it?

Things to AVOID - shots of 25 knives on a stump. This thread is about what you carry not what you own!

First up - Bruce Culberson EDC.

Why I carry it. Its a great little compact blade at 3.5" and very aggressive flat grind for excellent cutting. I like putting this one in my front pocket when I bomb off walking the dog in the local woods. Sheath is tough, compact, waxed and good looking. Scales - walnut, one of my favorite woods. I'll baton wrist sized rounds with it for a bowdrill kit but that is the extent of it. Useful for slicing food and whittling.

Next up is my B. Andrews modified bushcrafter (terrasaur handle with flat ground bushcrafter blade).

This one is my goto belt knife for camping and hiking. It sports a 4.25" blade. I forced the patina with vinnegar before my Florida trip earlier this summer to keep it protected in the humidity during the trip. I like this blade because it has fantastic handle ergo's and a great blade profile for carving and camp chores. At 5/32" thickness it used without reservation for wood prep but also works great on food prep and the odd bit of whittling and carving chores. A good all rounder.

Lets see a couple examples that you have!

Till I start my 6 month experiment my knives are are rotated often.

The one that is carried all the time is my SAK, regardless of the fixed blade this always goes in my pocket, main reason being for the saw~

My most carried fixed blade right now is probably my Pitdog Mora made by Mark Wohlwend, full sized knife but super light~

New one I recently finished up. (AND EDC!)
1/4" thick A2 steel, (with HT done right!), 4.0 " blade
Full convex grind
Tapered Tang
Stabilized Redwood Burl scales, w/ copper mosaic pins, & copper lanyard tube.

Looks nice troop. You've given me stats. Why do you carry it?

Here's my only fixed blade that I use anymore...a Mike griffin chopper.

I use it in conjunction with this SAK....seems to cover all my bases. Food prep, light sawing, fuzz sticks, cleaning fish...you name it, they can do it.

When out in the woods, I always carry this one. Rod Garcia Skookum. I have never found a knife that works better for me. Does it all for me.
Honorable mention, AND EDC'ed in my BOB in the truck is my Kabar Becker BK2, a great general duty survival knife. I trust it a lot.

I carry my JK Rule #9 everywhere. I love the shape, the handle fits my hand as if it was designed for me and the O1 holds a great edge.
I am somewhat biased of course. I designed it with the artistic help of Pitdog.

I carry my Fugbar, made by Jeremy Horton, as my favorite EDC. I carry it because it was designed to be be a tough, no worries knife. It is .270" S7 and easy to resharpen in the field with a strop.

I carry this one as an all purpose knife, a big part of my job is being outdoors, hunting down drug runners and growers and helping the army out in some of the most remote places in Mexico. This is the Winkler belt knife, made by Daniel Winkler.

I owned one of his hawks first. I was greatly impressed with his work.

I carry it on my Armor plate carrier mostly, I used it for food preparation, camp shores, and if the need arises, it is a very good weapon capable of going trough body armor.

Hi kgd -

First -

- JK Gamblers Bowie
- Made by John Kiedaisch of JK Handmade Knives.
- big and able to handle chopping as well as food prep duties.

Next
- JK Small Simple Scandi
- Also made by John.
- Small, nimble, able to perform smaller tasks with precision. I like how the handle fits in the hand and you can get a lot of leverage and control on the blade.

Finally, the classic -
- JK Kephart
- Made by John K.
- Great all-around knife. I use mine in kitchen, camp, backyard, wherever I need a nice, mid-sized knife.

Camp & Trail (HD) made by John Kiedaisch (JKhandmade knives)

Just a great knife. It is built like a tank, yet cuts like a thin slicer. The size, for me, is just about perfect and the yellow handle makes it easy to find if I happen to set it down somewhere. I use it for ordinary tasks around my property and carving wood into objects that sort of look like they're man-made.

While it doesn't see quite as much action as the heavy duty version, this knife is used in the same manner as above.

I don't have any pictures posted online, but I always carry a pocket knife. Usually that is a sodbuster, but lately I've been using the Buck 371 the most. I use the pocket knife for all those daily cutting tasks; ranging from opening packages to trimming my finger nails and just about everything in between.

I love this knife. How long is the blade?

For me I've been carrying my Izula II for the past month or so straight. Does everything I need and I pair it up with a modded CS Trail hawk when camping. Tried out a machete this weekend and just didn't compare to this combo.

The blade is around 9". After trying a bunch of choppers, hatchets and machete's....this is the only guy left standing. It's just an awesome design. Simple but not so simple if you know what I mean :) All those other tools are great and have their place, just not with me. If you want one I'm sure Mike will make one for you. He's super nice/talented/moderately priced to work with. More pics:

Is the BAD the 1/8" thick version? I think that would be a kick ass woods knife if only it didn't have that choil there. I've debated about this and some other Busses but have always been turned off by the choils.

Yes i know what ya mean....Its way to small to use it....

Not that many knives shown here so I guess I'll add mine.

Nothing fancy, not expensive, just a plain off the shelf knife. A tool. Nothing more, nothing less.

I like it because it fits my hand perfect. It will easily take a great edge, and hold it. It has done everything I could need a knife for, and some stuff I should have used another tool for.:o
