I've been tearing myself apart between the Benchmade 940-1 or the Fox knifes pheonix. Could some please give me their opinion?

    Welcome to the forums!

I'd pick the 940 myself. I have handled one and I know the handle fits my hand. Depending on the size of your hand, the shape of the Fox handle might not be ideal. It looks like two fingers fit before the swell and two fingers fit after. When in doubt, I prefer a more "generic" or neutral handle shape. The BM also is cheaper and I'm, ahh, frugal.

If you have a chance to handle the Fox and it fits, nothing wrong with the Fox either.

Two great knives, you can't go wrong really. Good luck.

I do not trust fox that much and the 940 isa proven design
I would go for the 940
I have a 940-1 that is very good

940 all the way. The 940-1 is a great choice, have a look at the Knifeworks 940-1501 in CPM-20CV steel too. That's my personal favorite.

Never handled the fox but the 940 is light weight and is easy to carry in the pocket it's a good choice.

The 940 by a mile. The -1 especially. Benchmade's s90v is my favorite of their steel offerings since they've almost entirely quit using d2.

If you're leaning toward the Fox design though, have a look at other Tashi designs from Reate. The baby machine specifically reminds me of the phoenix and will have impeccable quality control.

There's also a version of the baby machine from Drop called the Prism that I believe is a bit cheaper.

I'm in the 940 camp. Here's something to sway you to the benchmade American made side. 20191117_094307.jpg

I humbly apologize for my discrepancy.

Thanks everyone, although it would seem I have some sort of an authority problem where I ignore everyone's opinion including my own, so I went for the MKM Avrenis in carbon fiber. It's Italian, it's m390, it's marbled carbon fiber, it's everything I have ever wanted and satiates my every desire, so it's mine. Thanks tho.
