Knife Collecting Thoughts And Addiction

No it's not. These are BLADE FORUMS!
It's like having a weight loss meeting at a buffet restaraunt!

Has anyone ever seen 10-year-old electronic gadget that wouldn't be PoS nowadays?
Actually, the only thing I sort-of collect besides knives is vintage computers. :D Timex Sinclair 1000, Matell Aquarius, Commodore 128D, TI99, etc. They are still capable of everything they were originally designed to do.

I also regularly use a VCR, television, and radio that are over ten years old. They still work just fine.

Irabren,

Just how many knives did you own at one time before you realized you were an addict? I have over 200 and am just getting started. :D I hope you don't assume that all collectors are somehow addicted to knife shopping. Like I said, when I have surplus $$ I buy a few knives. No extra cash, no knife shopping. No biggie.

Funny thread. I hope I don't get the knife collecting bug... my gun collecting/shooting hobby is expensive enough as it is! I mean, how many .45 caliber pistols/revolvers does 1 person need... however many that is, I haven't reached it yet...

I am afraid to say though after buying a Fallkniven F1 this past week based on these boards that I've already been periodically poking around their website.

Can't... have... another... collecting... hobby!. Ugh.

I have really gotten into customs now more than production and I find that to me the investment is worth it especially if someone is willing to buy it back off of you. I also collect firearms and have a sizeable amount of those. I used to go buy a new knife every week but now I revel in waiting several months while one thats just for me comes out. i know you cant use them all at once, but I also collect hanwei and cas iberia swords. I just display those and I have around 10. I do display some of my nicer sebbies, WH, and others. I think to each his own on htis. I probably wont quit, I'll just slow down or just buy more expensive ones that make me wait longer. I have however felt that jeez I just spent 700 dollars on a knife I coulda done a weeks worth of hangin out and doin stuff with that money. But oh well life goes on

I see nothing wrong with collecting knives as a hobby. With every collection you will end up with more items than you really need if you need them at all. As long as you can afford the knives you buy and you don't expect any supernatural powers to come with them it is a rather harmless passtime and not that expensive either. I can probably sell my knives with a little loss or profit at most.
