Good Morning Knife aficionados,

just curious if you do collect knives do you concentrate on one brand or several? and what would be the one brand you collect most? for 30 years I have collected Case XX knives,I have since started collecting Spyderco Benchmade,Kershaw and ZT.

My favorite Case is the Copperhead,Spyderco-Manix 2 XL,Benchmade- Mini Barrage, ZT-0350 TS

Really I go through phases of brands. I find one, and concentrate on it for a bit, then something else will catch my eye.

Earlier this month was cold steel, now I'm building a Esee collection.

I don't think I could box myself in to one brand only. I like variety.

That's kind of where im at right now.i did concentrate on one brand for many many years. My oldest Case is from the 40s. but after so many years I have them all and all the variations. when I bought my first ZT0350BW I was hooked. Man these fancy folders are great! And I love the assisted opening Knives. That's why when choosing a Benchmade I chose the Mini Barrage.

I used to collect mainly Benchmade. Then Spyderco. Now I'm getting back into Benchmade! (Still into Spyderco).

My collection would be Kershaw Leeks, but I also have many ZT's, Balisongs, etc....

I too like variety. I buy and try stuff and if it don't suit me sell it. If i find a particular knife i like will buy two. But for the most part what i got is all over the place as far as brand names. For folders though like Benchmade the most. Fixed have more Buck's than any. But have my first Busse's coming to me so that might change quick as far as preferance brand for fixed.:). I don't have a huge assortment of knives don't have the money for it. But what i have is good and try others and upgrade as go along. Think i'm done for a good while buying anything . Spent $700 on knives this last week and i have more than what i need so gotta take a break til my next relapse.:D

Junglas is coming tomorrow (fingers crossed)

Pretty much only Spyderco. I do like Busse/Bussekin, but they're so damn expensive. I love my Hinderer as well. But pretty much only Spyderco.

Heck no !
A fanboy I am not, and never have been or will be.
A knifenut will buy any knife he likes no matter the brand, but a fanboy will only buy one brand.
Way to many great brands out there to buy only one brand.

There are a couple of brands I specifically and aggressively Collect, namely the Schrade-USA Old Timers.

But I also enjoy Accumulating knives of every sort.

There's too much interesting stuff out there to get pigeon-holed into a dead-end or limited niche.

Nah, I try to actively avoid any type of brand loyalty as I only see it helping the brand and doing nothing for the consumer. Personally, I go through different little kicks on what catches my interest. Sometimes I'm chasing the hottest blade steel, others I want new lock designs and some I'll buy because they have a handle material I like. Right now I think I've distilled it down a bit further, and I'm fascinated by value. Not necessarily inexpensive, but knives that off the best bang for your buck and that I determine to be worth more than they cost.

I tend to stay with 4 or 5 brands I know and love. The are the obvious popular ones.

1. Chris Reeve
2. Zero Tolerance
3. Spyderco
4. Benchmade

One day I may branch out but right now this is all I own and plan to pretty much stick to with the purchases I already have in my head. My wish list for future purchases, right now is:

1. more CRK's
2. Benchmade 940
3. The two new ZTs yet to be released

In my experience, most of the knife guys I see who only collect 1 brand are spyderco fanboys.

Not that it's a bad thing, just an observation I've made.

After a few years of knife obessions... I'm sticking with only Opinel and Lionsteel in general... still looking for three Spyderco (plain-edge Civilian, Yojimbo 2 and Lionspy) and awaiting a Boker Kwaiken. If any other novelty comes up, then the wallet empty real quick.

I collect and enjoy mostly Buck Knives while I have just as many Case, I also collect some Randall, Chris Reeve, and Benchmade Gold. I have a few other brands but kind of hit and miss after that.

No. I collect whatever strikes my fancy. My collection is 99% fixed blades.

I actively pursue ::
- Westerns/Branded versions of Western manufactured knives
- Kabar
- Becker K&T
- Muela
- Blackjack - Vintage, not the 'new' stuff
- Buck
- Dive Knives by misc makers
- US Military issued sharp, pointy objects - WW1 to present - i.e., knives, bayonets, machetes
- anything that screams "buy me" when I hold it or see it
- old ax heads that are weeping due their thick coats of rust and begging for a cleansing bath in the electrolytic spa

Huh, I guess I'm a fanboy then.

I've owned, collected, and used multiple knives from every major knife brand. It just so happens I have sold all of my Benchmades, Kershaws, ZTs, Striders, etc. Not because I didn't like them, but because I felt that certain knives from Spyderco offered better value and performance for what I care about in my folding knives.

I can absolutely point out flaws with Spydercos or any knife company. I try to be objective. But through years of experience with knives from every major brand, I've narrowed down what I like and Spyderco more often then not makes what I like. I like a high value, high quality knife that cuts well and uses top of the line materials. That isn't true for every knife they make, but then I don't own every Spyderco knife ever made. Some models are jokes to me and wasted production capacity, and I will never own them. But some such as the GB and Manix 2 LW S110V are simply put, amazing values.

In my experience, Spyderco offers better value and cutting performance then Benchmade, and better quality than ZT and Kershaw. Therefor, I would rather spend $100 on a Manix LW in S110V then on a Benchmade Griptilian for example. If this is what a fanboy is, then yes, I'm a huge Spyderco fanboy.
