My son needs new knife for carry in Iraq going to get him a Izula just not sure on best color. Looking for suggestions on best color (already ruled out tactical pink) Thanks for any input. I don't know what happened to the last knife I got him know better then to ask. Thanks

Why not pink hard to loose and who would steal a pink knife? Plus it takes real man to carry a pink knife.

The sheath is black no matter what, so any of them would be fine. I’d go with OD probably, but I just like OD. That or Desert Tan.

Thank your son for his service for me.

The pink used in an Izula is actually one of the best colors for desert camo. get him the black one so he doesn't lose it.

I bet he would rather ha e an RC 3 for tactical app

I've seen all kinds of different colors of blades throughout the branches of the military. Anything black, tan, or od green will work just fine.

flor1, I dont have any real recomendations on color (maybe tan?), however please thank your son for his service for me as well.

I'd stay away from the pink or the orange.
Also remember that if he's in the military for any length of time, he may be deployed somewhere OTHER than the deserts of Iraq.

Along the same train-of-thought, since I'm a civilian, I specifically chose the orange RC4 so I could find it should I ever drop it.
Plus, when it's attached to my Camelbak, it's one extra splotch of color that might deter a hunter from shooting my fat arse. lol

Pink works fantastic for desert camo....But if i was still in i would carry an RC-3 in OD....just personal taste i guess.

It really doesn't make a difference. Both Army and Air Force uniforms are puke colored, and the Izula doesn't come in puke. ;) Green or tan would look best with the future Multicam unis I think. I would love an Izula or an RC3 either way, I don't think it is going to make a difference. He'll appreciate a knife he can trust his life to, and either one would fit that description.

No way on God's green earth Big Army is ever going to Multicam.

With that out of the way, color shouldn't really be a problem. Tan or green, the "best" color would be "foliage green" (AKA puke) but they don't make RATs in that color. I'd choose tan, OD green has an '80s feel to me and black is overdone.

I thought Crye already had the contract...

I think the pink is ok. I remember bing over there and findin AKs with home fabricated stocks in pink and red and purple and light blue.... anyway he might fit in better with the natives.

They sent it to A'stan for review but they also sent another pattern called "UCP-Delta," essentially the current pattern with more brown. If they do make a pattern just for A'stan, my money is on the UCP Delta.

Multicam is in the hands of some high speed guys but they'll never swith from the UCP, at least in the near future and definitely not to Multicam. They chose UCP because it was cheaper (uses 3 colors and they already had the pattern that was easy to print because the Marine's pattern, MARPAT, was the basis and Multicam has 6 colors and uses "high propriety digital fades"), it'd cost too much to switch over, they'd never admit they were wrong, Multicam is privately produced, etc etc. Its too ingrained at this point.

Personally, tan would be the dead last color I'd want if there was a chance of dropping my knife into the sand.

I'd go green.

A couple of thoughts.
1. Are you talking about the color for the handle or the blade or the whole thing?
2. As mentioned the sheath is black so all that would be normaly seen is the handle unless he plans to run around with it in his mouth like a pirate.
3. What is his MOS (job)? It may sound dumb but depending on what he is doing with may effect the color he wants. For example if he is Motor T then he may want black to show less dirt, or infantry he my prefer tan to match the uniform.
4. Tan is easier to loose in the sand & dirt but it is the also easier to paint. So if he may with to do some camo on it I would go with tan
