How many of you are into knife combos in the woods?

I know an ax is king for tuff hardwoods and in the winter. But who prefers a large knife small knife combo from late spring to early fall on their multinighters and what do you use?

Depending on how you define "knife" and "small", my combo may or may not qualify.

The big "knife" is an HI kukri, and the "small"(er) knife right now is an HI R-10.
Both of which are on the way to ilbruche for pants.

Yeah.... that'll work:eek:

Can any one really argue with a guy packing steel like that.:)

Whoa! That small Farmer looks AWESOME! What model is that? And what are the specs on the big one?

...I'm never going to have any money if I keep hanging around this place.

You can say that again, KD. That's why I'm not buying any more knives.

Nice blades Franco! How do you like the little Fehrman? I've always been interested in them...............:o

I like the little Fehrman (Peace Maker) very much. The most ergonomic handle I ever had. A knife is very strong but still one can do many fine jobs thanks to a perfect blade geometry.

My combo is an HI M-43 kukri, and one of their R-10's. And Tonym some folks have mistaken me for a headhunter. Seriously I wouldn't leave home without those two knives.

My current trio.
I have a cheap one as well, the sak farmer, my 12 inch tram, and whatever mora I am fond of at the moment.

Here is my budget combo. 18" Ontario cut down to 10", and convexed. The notch in the blade is for my index finger, to choke up for finer work. The other half of the combo is my old and trusted Buck 102 Woodsman.

My large knife/ chopper is either a Randall Model 14 or a GB hunters axe and a Charles May handy scandi and a trace are edc.

you guys make me so envious. :D

Heres my Nova scotia outback combo, the nimravus is a little moded now, but its still the same cutter.

Nice stuff, guys - a real eye-feast. That kydex Altoid tin holder is something I've never seen before!

My only biggish knife is a Becker Crewman, which I don't really use much (it's up for trade on the exchange with some other users if anyone's interested). I have been gravitating towards small blades, and my combo is a sort of modern Nessmuk combo of BRK&T Northstar, Vic Spirit, and hatchet. I would like to get a machete to experiement with though, especially afterreading RIley's tram post.
