I usually hang out in the traditional forum though I do own and carry modern folders too. If the following link breaks the rules please delete it. I could not find the answer to whether or not linking is allowed.

I thought you would be interested in this video I found on MSN: Slicing things with a knife is becoming a competitive sport http://a.msn.com/09/en-us/BBr5F44?ocid=se

Good to know, thanks for the info. Anything positive for the industry is a benefit for the end user, that's US.

Yeah, the bladesports thing is kinda neat. I'm pretty sure the Browning Crowell competition knife was the production version of a design used the the competition.

Honestly, I'd be VERY curious to see how those light choppers Nathan the Machinist and Lorien collaborated on would fair in that kind of contest.

Off topic: I'm sincerely hoping the two of them put together the capital to start their own knife company. The knives they've put out look like they just thoroughly outclass basically anything else in the price range, but you have to be faster than a rattlesnake on meth to snag one.

my problem with the knives used in these kinds of competitions is that they are so over specialized as to be near useless for anything else...never seen a single one that brought about thoughts of " oh I need one of those for the kitchen! or camping....or zombies "

I'd like to see a real knife competition.... one that required a knife to be able to chop, slice, and pierce....and still be useable as an EDC.

Blade HQ regularly puts on these types of competitions on their youtube channel using regular production EDC type knives.
