Given the recent threads on use of other peoples designs I have a free offer to new makers wanting some designs.

My knife maker mentor Lloyd HARDING died december 2003. On his work bench were 10 or 12 years of his designs and and drawings he worked off. His son was keen for his work to be distributed amongst any knife maker who was interested.

I have scanned many drawings to actual size so they can be printed and used as templates. Many are too large and have a scale next to them. I also have completed knives photos.

I have tried to clean many of the drawings but some a dirty from being on the bench. Basicaly as he completed one he just left the drawing on a pile and it got bigger. He was a back yard maker with limited tools. He was a guild member doing very fine work. So any newbie would be able to make the knives at home with limited tools.

I will send discs to the first five who email me for free. I don't want to make money but I can't aford to send too many at one time. You may distribute copies to who ever you like as long as you do not charge a fee and it is for the development of knife makers not profit.

Make the subject line "Blade Forum" so I know who you are. I offten delete mesages from unknown senders to prevent viruses.

EDIT email removed
Edit Sorry I got a few too many requests and the funds dried up. A couple of those who got in early have indicated they will host the images on their site and they would update the thread with details when the discs arrive. Sorry to those who missed out. Thanks for showing an intrest

.

I'm interested, but not just yet, First I have to get enough control over my work that i can make what I want happen :P once I get good at shaping metal then I might look you up, even if I have to pay postage and media costs then :P good offer tho mate, theres gonna be some happy newbies out there :)

Thanks Reg, Email sent. That was a super generous offer. Mabe you could get Dan or someone to host them too?

Matt Matlock

How many knife designs are you talking?
I could host them from my computer for a time for anyone that wants to dl them, it won't be very stable and speed would depend on how many are dl'ing.
let me know if that sounds like a plan or not.

I have had 3 reqests so far via email. Pat,aaron and matt.

Kiwi you can have them now for free if you want to send an adress to my email. there is no hidden adjenda or spam component to my offer. I have already given away about 8 copies before this offer.

Paint fool if you and any other would like to host them that would be great.
there are about 300 images only a much smaller persentage would be high quality to host. send an email with address and I will send a copy. The disk contains Lloyds old web site no longer on line.

Email sent...this is a really great idea.

Reg you are absolutely my Hero. Guys you have no idea what you're in store for. I'm fortunate to have this CD and it is a treasure from the long career of a master knife maker. Reg is modest and didn't mention what an effort of love making this disc was, but it took him months to compile. Lloyd was Reg's knifemaking mentor and a truly fine gentleman. You guys are going to be rocked back in your chairs when you see what Lloyd has given you. Reg you are absolutely my Hero.

Thanks Dave

Don't build it up too much. They will be disapointed.
I burnt my budget up pretty quick but some of the guys have indicated they would pass on some copies or host the images on there storage space.

Sorry to the blokes that I had to turn down I started with 5 ended up with 10 to send and a few that I had to disapoint.

They are all in the post now except one I need to confirm the country.

BRAZIL, NEW ZEALAND and USA .

I had aome trouble vieing this thread it is not showing up on my terminal under shop talk and when I looked for it under all the threads I started it only showed the first 3 replies, I messed around abit and managed to get this on. I must have messed up my setting somewhere.

Reg after I read your post Jeanie was still up so I told her about it. Then I showed her the CD with Lloyd's picture on it. Now she thinks we should come visit you guys. I thought I had her talked out of that. :D You're her hero too man. Modesty is one of your (many) charming qualities.

I received the discs from Reg a few months ago. They are a wealth of information to anyone starting out but also to anyone who can appreciate the work this great knifemaker was capable of. Reg is a true gentleman for sharing. Lloyd's drawings are an inspiration to anyone. His finished work was absolutely great. Thanks again Reg.

when I get the cd I will have it available to download in full as well as just hosting the images.
I'm just running the website from my own pc so it might be slow at times.
and according to your (Reg) requests to keep it under control it might just be for a limited time.
Thanks again, Steve.

I'd be happy to host some of the images for DL from my website, too. I'd make a webpage with no links or anything, so you'd have to know it's there to get to it. If someone wants to send me a CD, too, I'd be more than happy to burn 5-10 and mail them around to the next batch of interested folks free of charge, too. Thanks, Reg, that is a very cool thing! Anything I can do to help out with the effort, just let me know... If you want to send me a CD, anybody, just email me and we'll work it out. Same thing if you want me to host some of the pics. DL times are probably pretty good because the images are on FatCow's servers, not my own...

if you want to send a cd my way i can copy them and print picures or whatever on the front. i can even do them on dvd's if you need that. let me know.
