Knife disposal

This is excellent advice. Trench knives are more than just weapons these days...

I'd also point out that antique bladed items have very little value as "weapons" today. A kitchen knife is more dangerous and more easily accessible to criminals.

I still think it's a troll post. People who find themselves with "weapons" they don't want turn them over to the PD, they don't register on specialized forum and say "I found a Ming Dynasty vase. Who can crush this into road base material?" It's BS.

OP, you're on the wrong forum. Nothing but people here with a passion for what you want destroyed.
Go find a recycling forum for your needs.

Either that or this is a fool that see's no VALUE is tool's, that has real interest to those who don't fear a tool.

Either way ,he must be happy IF he is wasting property that might get him actual CASH.

Guess he is very wealthy AND fears tool's ?.

There should be an age limit for Internet access. At least I feel comfort in knowing that punk in the video has likely discovered meth by now and resorted to making quick cash in public park restrooms to support his habit:D

I am not a knife fan myself and I was just looking for a way to safely dispose of them and potentially be "green" in the process by finding someplace where they could be melted down and recycled.

There is room for difference of opinion in the world when it comes to weapons. My intent was not to offend anyone, just to get some advice on handling my situation.

This is akin to peeing in the internet. Not to feed this troll but if your not into knives then why did you sign up here? Knives for the most part are not weapons either.
If you do want to dispose of these knives you have acquired, post some pictures and I'm sure there are members here who will take them off your hands making both you and them happy.

It has absolutely no interests in it's own family history. How unusual.

I posted a message earlier asking about melting down and disposing of old knives. My post was met with a barrage of insults and was then closed. However, I want to thank RevDevil for the suggestions of a scrap metal business, police department, etc. I am not a knife collector and these are knives that I recently inherited. I am not a knife fan myself and I was just looking for a way to safely dispose of them and potentially be "green" in the process by finding someplace where they could be melted down and recycled.

I understand that this is a forum for discussing knives and I thought someone here might be able to advise me on how to do this. Again, RevDevil, thanks for taking my question seriously.

You've been given answers. There is no need to continue this discussion and do not start another thread about this topic after I close this one.

I suspect one of many people here would pay you for shipping those knives to them to be cleaned, potentially re-sold, or just to give away. Give a ways are popular here.

On the other hand, I somewhat understand (assuming you are not just trying to get a reaction here) that you just want to get rid of them. I have said in threads that when I die, I don't really care what the people cleaning up my mess afterwards do with my knives and the scrap yard is one of those disposal options. On the other hand, I would prefer that someone would actually want most of the knives I've picked up over the years and there are mechanisms to dispose of them to people rather than a landfill/scrap yard. If you gave them to a police department which is a real easy thing to do, they would probably just pick through them and trash what is left. It is an effort thing and disposal options are limited to law enforcement agencies.
