Knife donts. Hard lessons learned stories.

Artery thats been cut can put you out permanently real quick. Dont know how you managed to control it well enough to get to the hospital but glad you did. Luck is not a bad thing to have in your side.

Never buy knives with sheaths that have bad retention or you will find sharp surprise from your backpack.

Also, don't chop a piece of wood with your knife and hold it with your other hand. I had the blade bounce on my knuckle and bite all the way to the bone. Lucky it wasn't worse!

This happened to my cousin and I live just down the road so I drove him to the hospital (fast) it was bad and we made it with a few moments to spare. It was a long recovery and he is very cautious around knives now.

Don't disassemble a knife without quality torx bits. You will save yourself a lot of heartache.

Always beware of where your hand is on the wicked stones when sharpening. Fingertips can be removed before you know what happened.

Interior of your vehicle must have been fun to clean. Glad your cousin is ok.

Never use electric V shaped sharpeners. I made this mistake when I was younger and first getting into knives, did a number on some good SAK's.

so...a can of green beans is enough to blunt the tip of a ZT???
Blunted if you're ocd like me. More like make it not out of the box scary pointy. I'm sure someone with better sharpening skills than me can bring it back to that.

Don't lend your knife out, it will come back modded in some fashion, not for the better.

Don't shop online when drunk!

I got this shitty bowie ... full tang me arse... should have known better.

Its probably been mentioned before but:
1) Never hand over a "good knife" to a non-knife nut.
2) Never let someone with passive aggressive feelings towards you use your good knife, ie. In laws or frienemies.
3) Never let inexperienced users use your super sharp edc.

Urg.. where you involved? Hope it wasn't you. I'm interested in how they fixed the problem and if that was the only injury. That knife is in a very awkward spot for many reasons. if you have details be very gratefu. Thanks.

Laying on my bed on my back playing with my newly acquired ZT 0562. I'm holding the knife up above my face a admiring it. Of course the knife is open. I somehow drop the knife (butterfingers type of move) and just remember thinking "oh shit!" Luckily the knife landed harmlessly against my cheek with a little smack. the side of the knife had hit me rather than the blade falling point or edge downwards into my face (or potentially eye.) Yeah I'll never do that again.

Falling asleep in my lazyboy chair with an open knife on my lap. Waking up, standing up, the knife goes skidding across the floor....stupid...
