Knife equivalent to nicer Spyderco Tenacious?

I'm in the market for a knife that is similar in shape and size to the Spyderco Tenacious, but with a nicer steel than 8cr13mov. I expect it to cost more than the Tenacious too(34 bucks). Also, I don't prefer backlocking knives, so I'm trying to avoid those.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a knife that might fit the bill? Can be from any manufacturer.

Thank you.

i urge you to ignore the above poster the manix 2 and tenacios are very dissimilar knives the manix is built to be tanklike but doesnt have the slicing capabilities that a full flat grind provides. The spyderco calypso in carbon fiber with a zdp-189 blade is an excellent slicer and a real beauty but it has a lockback. The military and paramilitary are also excellent knives great slicers and plenty stout they come in a variety of high end steels and thye are one of the most highly recommended knive son the forum,

and just so you dont feel limited to spyderco the benchmade dejavoo is a wicked slicer with beautiful looks to boot.

Spyderco Sage or Sage II. Sage I is in carbon fiber scales and is a linerlock. Sage II is a framelock with titanium scales. Both use S30v steel.

Spyderco Sage II Carbon fiber. The 3" blade is slightly shorter than the Tenacious. It has S30V steel and weighs almost an ounce less at 3.2oz.

Some people don't like the looks of the wire clip, but it serves the purpose while being less visible.

The premium steel and CF scales will cost you three times the Tenacious at around $120 retail. Whether or not it's worth three times as much is a personal decision!

I agree with you. Oh wait, I already did. :D

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but the Sage II is the framelock made of titanium with s30v, and the Sage I is the CF scaled linerlock.

That's correct. My bad-Sage I is the one with carbon fiber scales, while the II is the titanium framelock.

Either one are excellent knives, but the pricing on II puts in over the top for most people.

Spyderco paramilitary?

The Manix 2 is a similar size knife. You never mentioned in your post it had to be FFG so I think it would meet the criteria of an "improved tenacious".

The Kershaw Lahar is a good choice too, and it's actually a pretty affordable knife.

And if you wanted to go Benchmade you could check out the Barrage.

Sage I (S30V, slicer with a liner lock, wire clip, and CF handles.) $90-ish
Manix 2 (154CM, not as much of a slicer, but a hard use knife nonetheless) $80
Paramilitary (S30V, excellent slicer with a lot of tip control) $130

Those are the one's I'd recommend. I'm not too familiar with BM or Kershaw offerings.

The Manix 2 is an excellent suggestion. It is of similar size and shape, same handle material, not a lockback, and has better steel. It is EXACTLY what the original poster asked for. You for some reason picked one criterion where they are different (the grind) and tell him to "ignore the above poster" :thumbdn:

Not only was the grind not mentioned in the original post, but for many many people it falls very low on the list of priorities. It's not something that I even consider when purchasing a knife.

WAY off, what a terrible suggestion  :

Dekz is absolutely right. The Manix 2 is probably the closest in size and shape, and will be even closer when the full flat ground blade (just like the Tenacious) comes out.

The CF/VG-10 Native IV is also pretty close:

The only problem with the FFG Manix 2 is it's rumored to be 4+ inches and S90V. A lot more then the Manix 2.

"I urge you to NOT ignore" the rest of these guys.... based on your post, the Manix 2 is exactly what you are looking for. I have both and the M2 can certainly be considered a "better tenacious".
