TAke a look at what I have...2 of Bishops knives to play with. I am reworking the edge on one and making a sheath for the tracker. Both of Bishops are Tops. The reast are made by me and one David BEck knife.

Ah man your killin me here !! :D :D hehehe. *drools*
The Tracker is a awesome looking blade ! I wonder though is it difficult to sharpen ?

Man Brian, you look well equipped. :D I like the top/first knife. One of your designs? Have fun. ;)
Scott

I like it! The sheath looks great. Very nice package. ;) I still like the original design alot.

The original was my take on a Ricky Fowler knife I loved! Got me started making knives :D I cant take credit for that design but I modified it to fit what I thought was a better size for easy carry. His design was 16" overall and I made mine 13" or so just to be a little easier to keep with you in the woods. Not as bulky :D

Awesome, I'll take one of each please ;) I love your camp knife design, looks perfect.

The tracker is easy to sharpen but I found the edge to be just to fat.(not to be confused with phat) That is the main reason I have Brian working on my other knife the Steel Eagle. I have seen his work and I know he is the man for the job. Plus have you seen those sheaths he makes?

That 1/4" stock really needs a higher grind to make it cut well. Just too thick summes it up.

MAn - Tops leaves there edges THICK! I helped my man out a little.
These should cut better now :D

I'm afraid that one day the Tracker is going to get me just like my latest goodies did. Been searching for years for a Russian Spetsnaz Machete and finally got it today from N2S , finally I get to fondle this delightful hunk o' steel !
Brian makes some killer blades as well !! :)
Out of your big pic , 3rd one down with the exposed butt-tang like the 1st one , oh man... Awesome.
Whats with the un-coated Tracker ? Special edition ?

the uncoated tracker is the original! Not a Tops. Its a handmade one by David Beck. He made the ones for the movie. The Tracker knife was actually designed by several men over a period of time. Not Tom Brown exclusivley like he wants you to think. The reason Tops did them for Mr. Brown is because David Beck wouldnt mass produce them for him.

The third one down doesnt have an exposed but tang its just a shadow but thanks for the complenets!!!

tom brown did the conceptual design, and people took it further, as did he. but his design looked really wierd, and becks was better, so he commisioned beck to make a couple testers. if you remember the drawing of the knife from the hunted, thats the knife tom brown designed. ya its gay, thats why he liked becks better. browns a survivalist, and a tracker. not a knife designer. he layed out the guidlines, and it took him 7 years to get every feature in, and working right, so it wont inhibit and type of work that might have to be done in survival. so the credit should go to tom. his idea, and his concetual designs lead to the knife you see today.
blgoode, i really like the knife above the WSK, thats cool! i really like the handle shape. what happened to your WSK? whats with the finish? gotta fix that baby up! put some Gun-Kote on it!
also to let ya know, i think TOPS puts such skinny bevels on their knives to make them as strong as possible, thats why the steel eagle can go through a car door without the tip breaking!
i still cant believ that top camp knife was your first. did you have metal working expirience before that? did you have access to the pro equiptment or something?

the finish on my Beck WSK is his standard finish. No gunkote from him.
The one above that is my Trailsman design. Ment to be a light one knife carry deal. I have made things all my life and I learned what David Beck was using as far as materials so I ordered some steel and I had wood at work.
I bought a cheap 4 x 36 Skill sander and went to it. We have a metal bandsaw at work. A few months later and I was sending my knife off for HT. Here is my final design for the top knife. My favorite that I have ;)

I have a BA degree in sculpting so I guess you can say I had experience before making knives. Just not in makeing knives ;).

Thanks for the update on the tracker. Very informative.

Just to add that the blade in the link was a full flat grind out of 1/8" stock and the tip didnt break. The steel in the test was much thicker than any car hood.
Just adding info :D

I was surprised how well the Tops cut after a little edge treatment. Good knives!

Hey Brian,
What do you get for one of those little ones at the bottom? I might be interested in one of those.

Ric

Just wanted to post a public thank you for doing the work on these knives for me. Can't wait to use them with the improved edge!! :D

Wich one again? Email me...yours came back undeliverable.

blgoode, you mind if i use that handle shape of the knife above the WSK? i really like that alot and think it would go good on alot of blade shapes. maybe make a companion for the WSK im working on that'll never get finished! :) ive got the blank cut from 0-1 right now sitting by the grinder, but im too afraid ill screw up, to pick it up and grind the draw knife section, and the tapering tang. so ive been practicing on some leaf spring WSK blanks that i cut out a long time ago. im trying to get my craftsman belt grinder working so i dont have to use a belt sander and file. since this is a stock removal design, i cant forge in the bevels like i would any other knife, making this is a big leap in my skill level, but i love the WSK too much to give up! maybe ill start grinding on it tommarow.

sure you can use it but make it fit the knife design. What I do is take part of what I like and modify it for what I am doung now. Mess around with tracing paper and trace over the parts you like of a design and continue to work on the other parts. Make it yours you know?
