knife for a eagle scout

Wow I never expected this kind of response all good suggestions I would like to stay at $250 or less. He is a very responsible young man I am not in the least worried about him losing it. I am a proud father ;)

My mother and father got me a Benchmade 940 and had "Eagle" and the date engraved with a laser on it. Love that knife!

And you should be! It's a noteworthy achievement, for certain.

The Barkies are well-priced and, IMHO, worth more than they cost (I have 6 of 'em, and they're my favorite fixed blades). Got mine here:

This one is my personal favorite:

I would make it something special, some sort of custom. Maybe a Dozier or Randall. They have some great history to them and make great users. Congrats on Eagle, I got mine a few years ago and it's still my proudest moment. Probably will be for a long time.

As stated previously, I recommend you get him a Swamp Rat Ratmandu. Great all around knife and in my opinion is best bang for your buck.

If you are looking for a folder, I would look at a Spyderco paramilitary or Sage. The Benchmade Griptilian is also great
but if you are looking for a fixed blade you Can't beat the Fallkniven F1. I own all of the knives I mentioned, and I will therefore speak from personal experience.

I'd like to suggest the "Mora Scout Knife Classic 39" (90 mm blade length) or Classic 40 (100 mm). Blade steel: Sandvik 12C27.

Entrek badger. Any of the Entreks would be great. Ray Ennis (owner and maker) is very supportive of scouting. In fact, one of his first knives was made with a group of explorer scouts as a project. Sometimes he will bring scouts to his shop and show them the skill of knife making. Go to the Entrek site and email Ray with what you want. I bet he will help you out in whatever way he can. Tell him Jason sent you. And congratulations to you and your son!

Buy him a randall, and tell him the best things in life take time. there is nothing like the wait for the first one.

Better yet, go to A.G. Russell and get him a Randall now. That is one hell of an accomplishment so a Randall is fitting.

Many custom makers on these forums. Have a knifemade for him. Or, the classic Boy Scout knife and have it engraved.
It'll be a one of a kind and become a family heirloom.

Congrats and good job on raising a young mag like this.

I took him with me to pick one out. He liked the Benchmade Griptilian 550hg. Thanks for all the suggestions.
