Knife for a friend in the Marines

Off duty knife? Knife for a deployment? Big difference. In a deployment he'll be made aware of his gear and it'll be supplied. My recommendation is buy him something for off duty, not too large the ZT0550 or 0551 would be a fine folder.

If your bucks are up then contact Hinderer for an XM-18 for not much more with the Military discount $300+ - they offer a heck of folder in their XM-18 or a Sebenza is a nice EDC in the $300 to $400 range.

My brother is in the sandbox right now and he has a Rajah 2 on him. It has held its own for over a year now. He had his choice of any of my knives (over 20 fixed and folding) and that is the one he chose. Go figure.

I had a Rajah 1 those are formidable blades that don't occupy much space when folded. Loved the wave too. ;)

Make sure to get him something to sharpen his knife with and maybe a portable strop to go along with it. Doesn't matter what you get him if he can't use it to cut anything.

1. Dmt dia-fold coarse/fine

2. Spyderco double stuff

Small & effective ;)

I would suggest a Victorinox Swiss Took X. Very solid and excellent quality. Also a Bark River Bravo 1.5 in tough 3v steel, just about to be made.
