RC-4 it is then, the 5 seems like to much knife for my purposes ive never done any prying that a 3/16 inch blade couldnt handle, they have hooligan tool kits for those types of situation and i believe that a tomahawk would take things apart far better than even a rat.
RAT cutlery knives seem perfect for most any enviornment. 1095 is solid and reliaable that is why it has been on the scene forever i dont do the whole flavor of the month super steel thing, i own striders and busse knives and maybe if i was working domestic i might carry one but as someone earlier in the thread stated they might be confiscated on the way there never mind the way back (if im on my way back to the U.S i could care less if they wanna take my knives im healthy and in one peice
) RAT makes an excellent knife at a price i find is affordable even for something that may break and the warranty certainly comes in quite handy
RAT knives just seem t be the smart choice for a deploying soldier.
right now it looks like my full load out will be as follows:
1) american tomahawk VTAC
2) Rat RC-4 tan with orange paracord lanyard and SS leather
3) Rat izula tan with orange paracord
4) Emerson commander
5) leatherman wave in nylon sheath.
Thanks for all the replies and the concerns as to my safety. now i just need to figure out if im gonna get engaged before or after i go
its funny how after years of not quite having a plan i suddlenly have a pretty straightforward plan for my future and not just the next year or two the army provides the expanded GI bill and i plan to get a degree along the lines of anti-terrorism and minor in a middle eastern language im a liberal myself but i believe that sadly the threat posed to this country by extremists is very real and will probably increase far into the future.
Take care all.
