My daughter would like a one handed folder she would be using it to cut sandwiches apples ect.
She's so special because she's mine

and she talked her mom into buying me a Sebenza

for Christmas.
Even though she's special she loses stuff regularly so $50.00 max.

I'd recommend a spyderco calypso jr, dragonfly, navigator or native. All very nice and they all have a certain charm to them, at least to me.

I also have a 17 year old special daughter. She's my only girl out of 6 kids - and yes - she is also very forgetful. I was going to buy her a custom neck knife for her 18th birthday, but now I'm leaning toward a smaller Spyderco like the ones mentioned by leroys_45. You can't miss with those.

Another knife your daughter might like - tho' not very high tech - is an Opinel folder from France. They come in different handle colors and with stainless blades. My daughter took one to camp with her when she was 13, and said she liked it because it couldn't snap shut on her fingers.

I carried the original Gerber LST for about ten years before I purchased another production knife.

During the time I carried the LST everyday, I purchased 16 handmade forged fixed blade knives. I never occured to me that I needed a Better daily carry knife until one of my brothers asked me what my daily carry was. I was embarassed to tell him that it was the Gerber LST that He had given me over ten years ago.

I went out an bought a Spyderco Centofante (my new daily carry), a Kershaw Ken Onion mini-task, and a Benchmade Mel Pardue 850 (also carried everyday). I still Love the Gerber LST.

It turns out that this knife is considered to be a Landmark in knife history. It was the First production knife to use the strength of composite handle slabs to dispense with metal liners. It is made of Few parts. And it still works Great.

Consider a Gerber LST for your daughter. It is a great knife. And it will only cost you about $25 dollars, shipped.

Jerry.... You've got a sweetie going on 17, mine on 18, April 21'st, and I'll tell you what I've finally decided on for her Big 18th. I've decided to go ahead and give her that handmade neck knife ! To view go to http://www.petestacticalknives.com and click on the custom concealment knives link. It's the only knife presently shown by maker Warren Thomas on this site; A carbon fiber/titanium/tungsten-edged laminate kozuka with PINK wrapped handles. She managed not to lose the Opinel - or recently the Chris Reeve Sebenza this summer - so I think she deserves it.
She's more into working out at Gold's Gym - dark parking lots

as opposed to camping these days, so I thinks it's a good choice.
