As it seems Boston has forgotten it's place in history as an rebellious colony and now have more laws against it's citizens bearing arms than the British imposed on 'em, I had to go through my two or three knives to find something suitably small. Someone said an inch and a half blade? Well...

It's made by Webster Wood, of northen Michigan, and he calls it the 'snappy sidekick'. The sheath has a snap that fits onto it's partner affixed to the blade. Wickedly sharp. Actually ran into another man wearing one of these up north. His was mother of pearl handled. I wonder if Web will be at the knife show this year?

Very interesting little knife.
It's been a long time since I've seen anyone in Boston with a belt knife of any kind.

Love the paint job on the camo knife.

When are you leaving MI for the road trip?

Took me 12 hrs from Lansing to home. 13 going. Had 2 unexpected stops in NY by the man in blue. Watch em.

Now that is imposing. Although if someone pulled it on me they would surely win the fight. I am afraid I would be laughing so much I could not defend myself. You have to learn how to protect yourself in the North East this knowledge is garnered by years of idiot laws imposed by the same safe, self ingratiated liberals who decry hunting and then after a hearty porterhouse steak get in there Porche and run over the herds of of whitetail deer poliferating our highways and make our roadsides look like slaughter houses.

That being said, the self protection device most commonly accepted and used would be the 12 ounce long neck Budweiser ( note in upstate NY Genesee ) ( In Penn Rolling Rock) glass beer bottle. Its attributes are easy to acquire, usable as a club or cutting tool and most of all filled with good stuff. also unlike a 3" 100 year old Schrade automatic pen knife are perfectly legal. LT

Sefl-protection? Naw. My planned dealings with someone like a mugger is this: "here's every dollar I have", as I toss my money clip between us and run like hell.

Larry... The girl friend says I can meet my friends on Monday or Tuesday, April 19 or 20. I'm losing track! Who else is in Boston/ NH? Glenn, you are also in NH, right? Would love to meetcha. Also, Knifeaholic is in boston.

And Larry... you are the only other one here who I know subscribes to KNIFE WORLD. Check out the wonderfully insightful letter to the editor.

Well, lookey there!
I was still reading all the info on Victorinox and hadn't focused on the smaller articles yet. Did you snail mail or email your comments. I've written to them in the past and they have been very friendly and responsive.

I'll email the Boston crews and see if we can coordinate a meeting.

Can call me when you get in for final verification?

Watch out for those Canadian Mounties. Those damn horses can really move.

Larry

I have been known to get knife world myself I will check it out. Congrats. I also would offer a would be robber my worldly goods if assaulted. The only difference would be my reason would be in the way of a thankyou for picking me and giving me a legal excuse to exercise my right of self defense, the toughest part in such a decision is whether to shoot cut or just enjoy some hands on time. I would give anyone a helping hand or the shirt off my back but they will have to do what they will to ever take anything from me against my will. If you give them your money today, if you still want to walk down that same street, tomorrow they might want something a bit more personal, so whatever they want they will have to pay for from the beginning. Sorry to many years with a jail mentality I guess. I do not like places that regulate tools or weapons any place I have ever been where weapons are legal and fairly easy to carry I have found everyone much more polite of others rights. Have a great meeting and a wonderful get together. I know Larry is making a joke about the mounties but if one of them is around and you are ever being robbed or otherwise violated you will not have to defend yourself they are the good guys and they are the best. Just wish you lived closer to Boston, LT.

The article I commented on in Knife World was about the knives of Novelty Knife Company, and it's founder, Major Vignos. What a charactor he must have been! Lost an arm in the Civil War, and played upon that fact continually in his advertisements. Was really forward thinking and inventive in his marketing. I'd read much about the man prior to the article, but reading the words of one of his descendants, was really cool. It's easy for so many of these knife magazines to just publish dribble, particularly about the knife maker of the moment (fleeting moments, for most of them) or over the top expensive blades with no heart and no soul.

Some very beautiful, colorful knives. Fixed blade and pocket. As well as razors, letter openers and such. One of the best books I have showing illustrations of these is the Stewart & Ritchie book, 'Big Book of Pocket Knives'. Also of interest is the printing in the book of different company documents, some relating to those inventive sales tools.

And what do you know... an old Knife company not from the North East, but right here in the Midwest. Canton, Ohio.

OK, LT.. I know you got 'em. Let's see a few of these.
