But not sure what knife to get him. something traditional but not to old school looking. any ideas? my price range is about $150 max i think. maybe a little more if its really nice.

traditional but not old school looking...Hmm

what is your price range? The cold steel black rhino looks traditional, but is not exactly old school looking.

check it out: http://www.coldsteel.com/blackrhino.html

They go for about 120 to 150 bucks online. Worthy of being engraved for sure.

For half the price, the Kershaw Gentleman's Folder is nice. You can find them for about 60 80 bucks.

Check it out: http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/kershaw/images/19932.jpg

Hope these help, they seemed like good "wedding knives," since they are kinda classy looking.

Dont mind the look of the kersahw Gentleman. But i forgot about the Buck 110. That is a good looking knife and very solid.

What else is out there?

I'd go for the Fallkniven P1 or the U1- both look like great knives and the P1 has VG10:thumbup:

prices aren't too far outta range and nothing says congratualtions quite like laminated vg10 and micarta :D (with the P1)

Keep this in mind when I get married man;)

I think a custom shop buck 110 with an engraving on the bolsters would be really nice, and well within your price range.

Just take a look at buck and/or give them a call tomorrow, very friendly folk there. They also make Eagle scout knives too for only $30-40

Eagle scout 2004 here.

Tell him congrats on the wedding and for staying in scouts that long

matt go to the buck website there you can build a custom buck 110 with your choice of blade bolsters scales and engraving [god bless buck]

I'm thinking... perhaps the young couple would prefer something else more urgently than a nice knife?

Here is another idea that may interest you Matt...
A friend of mine who is a knife nut got married a few years ago. I bought him a really nice large Carving Knife set.He and his bride used it on the wedding day to cut the wedding cake.
Thereafter they have used it every year for Christmas, Easter, etc. They say that they always think of me before they cut the turkey:o

Enjoy the wedding.....
Steven

I've had a similar idea for my friends wedding. While not so much traditional, I'm thinking about a Kershaw RAM with Firebert scales. Something to think about...

Ill have to toss the Benchmade 710 and 940 in.

Neither are very traditional...but the 710 has been around long enough it is kind of a classic in it's own right.

Either way, they are damned nice, and not something that you are going to just pick up at Wal-Mart either.

I agree 100% Their Eagle Scout knife is a thing of beauty

The custom 110 is a winner imo. Might as well throw in a pocket signal mirror and whistle, if he is getting married, he will need those too. :D:thumbup:
