Knife for office atmosphere

The Alox Soldier IS my favorite SAK!! And the one I EDC. Great little knife, and classy. You can not go wrong with a SAK.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions, I really appreciate them. Alos, I apologise for postng this twice (the first was in error), but I am glad that I did as I got some extra suggestions.

I just had a question, how secure are slip joints? If I ever did have to use this in self defense (which I doubt), should I worry about the lock failing?

Thanks again

That is the thing about slip joints, is that they don't really lock. I hope we helped you find a knife that meets your needs. DO let us know, please.

*laugh* I guess that depends on the office. But no, it isn't mandatory, I was just wondering about slip locks.

TheKnifeCollector, you guys have definitally helped me alot. I am actually leaning towards the WH Legacy, but I will definitally let you guys know.

Thanks again

I detest slip joints in the same manner I hate 10-speed bikes. When I got my first mountain bike I wondered why it had taken so long to come up with the datgum things. The 10-speeds had skinny tires, awkward grips, were only good for paved roads and they killed my back. I have one slip joint knife which I keep for sentimental reasons.

My favorite office knife is a little Cold Steel Voyager. Wonderful knife. Not real classy, but it's good at what it's supposed to do.

Kershaw Leek. Rainbow kind if it has to be prety. Meets all your specs and all of em under 100$.

Kershaw Chive is a nice and small knife that would be good for the office. I carry it when I don't want anything to Big in my pocket.

Well... you could try an AG Russell Funny Folder -
Funny Folder
Small, inexpensive, and DOESN'T look like a knife at all. Other options are key chain knives (SAK's Spydercos, etc) if you decide a 2 inch blade is alright....

OHHHHHH just scare the  out of them pull out a harpy.

Actually after doing that pre 911 I decided to carry a delica no one raised an eyebrow.

Thanks again for your help everyone. I finally decided and went out and bought my "office carry". Well, I blew the budget, but otherwise stayed in my parameters. I picked up a William Henry Titan Monarch. 2.6" ZDP-189 blade (am no expert, but to me it looks like a modified drop point?), Titanium handle, button lock. It ran me $300 (which means I don't eat for a week), but so far, it was worth it.

I just got it, so I haven't had time to play with it yet, but when I do, I'll let you guys know.

One small item of concern - the button lock. To my untrained eyes it doesn't look like a heavy duty lock (not that I need one), but it seems to work well enough.

Check out the link - it's model B05-FT

William Henry's AREN'T "heavy-duty" - nor would an office carry knife require such a thing.
It does look like a slim droppoint. Why modified? The swedge?
I don't recall ZDP-189 being "heavy-duty" steel either ;).

On the other hand... button-lock tactical? -- Klotzi + Brian Tighe

Nice choice on the WH. As said above they're not heavy duty knives, but they are extremely well made and I felt their button lock was solid.

One more thing; since I live in NYC this knife can be in no way construed as a “gravity knife” (a somewhat vague legal term). I have a friend who has had a small pocket knife taken away from him because some building security officer could (with some exertion) open it by swinging it.

Your friend let a rent-a-cop take his knife??? You HAVE to be kidding. Can you say "no authority" or "nice knife, me want"?
