Knife for office atmosphere

Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are great for the office. I like the Compact and Spartan models. I wouldn't worry about using a slipjoint. Exercise basic knife safety and all should go well. ;)

Thanks for the replies on the law, gents. To give my 2 cents, I would go with an SAK (alox cadet unless you need/want scissors), or the little Case 6344 stockman-the tiny pen and sheepsfoot blades are very discreet. I think age may play a role in office perception also, an old guy with a little knife is more likely to be seen as just "old school" while younger people often don't get as much of a break in this direction from their co-workers.

Spyderco Kopa, it is is offered Micarta, Evrina, Cocobolo, Tiger Coral, Apple Coral and MOP.
Spyderco Cricket CF or Santa Fee.

The only time I have had a slipjoint fail me is when I tried to cut with the wrong side of the blade, or when I have used the knife in a way that it should not be used (twisting or punching actions) :D).

Thanks again for your help everyone. I finally decided and went out and bought my "office carry". Well, I blew the budget, but otherwise stayed in my parameters. I picked up a William Henry Titan Monarch. 2.6" ZDP-189 blade (am no expert, but to me it looks like a modified drop point?), Titanium handle, button lock. It ran me $300 (which means I don't eat for a week), but so far, it was worth it.

I just got it, so I haven't had time to play with it yet, but when I do, I'll let you guys know.

One small item of concern - the button lock. To my untrained eyes it doesn't look like a heavy duty lock (not that I need one), but it seems to work well enough.

Check out the link - it's model B05-FT

Eating is overated:D .

I have the same knife and find the button lock to be quite secure, epecially for the purposes of a small gent's folder. I'm not going to be chopping much firewood with a blade this size;) .

How's about a Buck/Mayo TNT? 1/8 of an inch larger than you said, but fits the bill pretty good, and it's a great quality knife.

You made a good choice. The only reason I didn't suggest a Titan-series William Henry was that it was above your price range. But I have one and like it more than the Nakamura and Kasumi that I suggested (and also own). I have the Titan Westcliff, by the way.

Honestly, I think the Titan(s) is/are better than any of the suggestions that anyone made except maybe the Buck Mayo TNT, but it isn't as much of a gents knife.

So, good choice and good taste. The WH button lock is very secure and strong. It isn't a Strider, but it isn't meant to be. For a gents knife, it is actually very stout.

There is nothing wrong with spending $300 on a knife if it is what *YOU* want.

CONGRATS on the WH!! That is a great looking knife!! Thanks for letting us know what you decided to get!!
