Knife for Scout

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure, but I think they get Victorinox to run special editions to their ideas. Lots of people collect them. You might find more ideas on sakwiki or aloxworld.

Victorinox also runs special editions for their own line. Usually different colors. They even run different colors for other countries. I ordered a black alox farmer from Italy. Takes a little while to get here though. I'd like to get one of the green South African Pioneers too.

Oh, most of what I'm talking about applies to the Alox (aluminum scale) models. The plastic ones already come in all kinds of colors.

Why does everyone recommend saks and traditional knives? The spyderco endura sounds perfect to me. Way cooler than saks.

I gave my son several knives as he progressed from Tiger Cub and when he finally reached Eagle Scout, I had a nice custom knive with Ivory and had it scrimmed with his initials. Hope the picture comes through.

Sorry, sent the back side. Here is the front side.

Tell him that Scouting is a very worthwhile venture for a young man. My son struggled from about 15 to 17, but when he saw he could make it, he really pushed for the achievement.eagle_scout 02.jpg

When I was a scout I always wanted a locking knife vs what I did carry, a sak or a random buck slip joint. I would have preferred the security of a locking blade.
Not saying that's the route you should go, but it is something to keep in mind.

Thanks for all the great advice.

I decided on a Victorinox black alox pioneer. It's pretty stiff. I'd like to loosen it up a bit. It seems that all Swiss Army knives I've handled were stiff. Any suggestions?

Thunder 47 - What kind of knife is that with the ivory handle?
