Knife from forging demo at Blade West 08

I forged out that Knife kit this weekend and will try to get it ground out later this week.
You guys have no faith in us part timers.

Chuck, I thought for sure you had made a sinker out of it. I bet I made well over a 100 blades out of that same rebar in the late 90's. I've still go more left.

I have the pic of it before, but who wants to see a pic of rebar? I will see what I can do tonight.

So some may know this and some may not but Ray passed out a prize to the person who had been to the most forging demos at the last Bladeshow West, and I was the only one will to admit to the fact that I have been to four of them, so the prizes was one of his medium size knife kit.

So on Saterday I set up the coal forge and the 50lb traviling anvil to show how little I know about forging while I was at EZ Orchards in Salem. So you get this little ugly.

I know shamless plug for the blackpowder club I shoot with.

And finally after a couple of passes on the grinder. It needs to go back in the forge and move the tip more centered with the body of the knife, it's about a 1/16" above the back and the plan is to push it to a 1/4" below the back to make it look more like one of Ray's knives. If you look close you can see a few rebar markings on the spine.

I hope you all like it.

By the way, I took your advice and dropped by Mike's 2nd Hand Store in Escatada (sp?)
and bought one of the drag saw blades ($16):). Got about 2-3 weeks of work around the house before I can get back into the shop but I'm looking foward to playing around with some of that stuff :).

Nice visiting with you again and nice demo too:thumbup:

Dana, Whats this, drag saw blades for $16.00? Fairly Honest Mike got me for $26.00 for a drag saw blade I purchased less than two months ago. Maybe he had a sale. Good getting to visit with you at the show also.

said for Ray it would be $26 but for you I'll let it go for $16. He said he loved
taking the extra $ from you :D....just kidding. We actually dropped in with about10mins
before closing time that Sunday afternoon and I think he was in a hurry to head home.

That is a really cool store. We'd love to visit that place again next year.

Thanks,
Dana

I am really surprised at the number of folks who list themselves here as knifemakers and not only are they not in my file of over 3,000 knifemakers, they are not in my file of over 1,000,000 knife lovers.

If you are not in my knifemaker file I am unable to invite you to our knife event this summer.
