I spent last weekend in Missoula, Montana for the MKA Show. Main reason I went the fellow that was asked to do the forging demo said if I'd do the demo he'd pay for my table. I also wanted to get a better look at this part of the US so I told him yes. I told Steve I didn't want to haul my anvil several hundred miles and he said he'd have an anvil there for me. Not knowing the size hardy hole this anvil had I went ahead and forged tangs ahead of time and left Godzilla at home. First blade I forged was a small dagger and then I did this blade. Both were out of 1084. I gave the dagger blade to a kid at the end of the show and he was thrilled with that. Anyway I went ahead and finished the larger blade. Bad thing about doing forging demo's at shows is they are usually held in the parking lot with plenty of bright sun light which makes it close to impossible to tell how hot your getting the steel. This blade had one spot that I just couldn't remove from forging to hot so I went ahead and antiqued the blade but its still there. I'll call it a little birth mark. The blade is 7 3/4", overall its 12 1/2". Sambar stag and wrought iron make up the rest.

Nice one Ray! I saw this one right after the demo. Hey next time why dont you give me a dagger blade? Lucky kid.
Thanks for the wrought iron chain link!

Very nice Ray  If you don't mind me asking, what is your technique for fixing the WI cap on to the end of your handles ? Is it a screw on ? Peened ?

David, Here's a picture of another knife but simular to what I did on the one in this post:

All my knives are threw tangs. I thread the end of the tang and use a nut to hold things together until the epoxy sets up and then I'll peen it.
