Knife Geeks

My Big brother was big on comics. He wasn't the most popular dude in school partially because he was always nose deep in a comic book. One day my dad dropped us off at a local comic book convention. I thought to myself "My bro is gonna make lots of friends here, because all these guys love comics" I was wrong. Most of guys we met quickly became enemies because they were from different factions of the comic book world. DC vs. Marvel. Superman vs. Batman. X-men vs. The Avengers. These guys were very opinionated and they revealed in the debate, unfortunately they all ended up going home alone to read about their favorite hero.

Guys don't let this happen to us knife geeks. Forgive your fellow knife fan for loving "that other knife company" or your "least favorite premium steel" and respect each other for our shared love of sharp steel. Honest discussion is great, but don't forget to cultivate respect and solidarity. I've seen a few too many threads get outta hand, where people forget that we are all standing on common ground.

I get what your saying, and I totally agree!

Just like you at the comic shop, I mistakenly thought that when I found there were whole comunities of "knife" and "blade" lovers, that it would be this great place to share my enthusiasm with others who felt the same way, and to encourage the interest in blades no matter what brand or style certain people preffer.

Boy was I wrong. :o ....Oh well, at least there does seem to be about as many good guys here as there are anti-knifers. -And there is still plenty of knife porn!

The reason we see this on forums as opposed to in real life is that forums and the internet offer a sense of anonimity in that one can say what they want without real repercussions.

Banned from a forum for being an offensive , loudmouthed jerk ? No big deal...

Black eye and swollen lip for being an offensive , loudmouthed jerk ? See the difference ? :)

I've been here for near six years in various forms and other forums of course and seen more chest thumping snobs than I care to relate.
On the other hand I've "met" a lot of really neat folks.

It's a trade off :)

Now lemee spray some of this hug all over y'all ! :D

OMG spiderco(;)) is the best kife companie eva! u othr kife fans thik benchamde is good wel scrw u!

That was fun, never talked like that before.

Anywho, yeah..... We really should not get so heated. Some guys take it WAY to personal like they built the company themselves. Half the time the maker or "founders" do not even get themselves worked up.
In the end I like what I like and you like what you like... Does not mean you should cut my throat for it.

Spyderco FTW :D

I shouldn't, but I could. Because my knives are sharp and yours are not.
:D:D:D:D:D:D

Great thread.
Although, some of the worst websites as far as rude members insulting others are those dealing with martial arts.

I was into comics too as a kid, and even attended some of the early S.D. Comic-Cons (in the '70s). Back then, I didn't really notice the clique-ishness described. Then again, comics were only a part of my life. :)

Bah! No way can we get along!

Some of you actually think that the Smatchetbenza is better than the Spydermade Testosterone!

Marvel is sooooo much better than DC, and here is why: oh, wait, this is the knife forum, never mind! :p

It IS clear why. Ever heard of adamantium? I've heard those claws were heat treated by Paul Bos and hand grind by Chris Reeves.

I think these koombayah threads are a bit goofy and weird. :D I would not visit a site where everyone agreed with me all the time, but then again I think some conflict and hardship are an essential part of a full life!

People are a little bit like knives - they come in a lot of different varieties, and variety in knives, and opinions, is the spice of BF.

This is how the guys who write the Penny Arcade webcomic explain it.

I admit to referring to my middle finger as my 1st amendment on my youtube videos. ;)
