Ok so heres the deal. A few days ago I posted a thread about the Bill Siegle machete I just got. I would like to attach a survival kit to the sheath. Fire, shelter, water, and what ever else you think should be in the kit and how or what to put everything in. I will add pics and size of the kydex sheath it came with tomorrow. We will give this till Feb 1st. Depending on the feedback I get I will determine if we will extend the giveaway. The knife that you will get is a brand new Cold Steel Bushman folder.Post with any ??? you have and I will answer asap. Thanks for all your help and please include info on everything in your kit ie:name, company that makes item, etc..etc..Thanks again.

I am a bit confused, will the PSK have to fit onto the sheath? if you could elaborate more that would be great, should be fun!

Firesteel, PCB/fatwood, matches, space blanket. Get one of those Adventure Medical PSKs and expand on it.

If you are looking to put a kit that includes a way to make fire, shelter and also carry water on a sheath it may prove a little difficult and awkward. I would suggest getting a small pack like a Camelbak MULE or a small Maxped pack and lashing the machete sheath to it. This will give you plenty of room for gear and also a very comfortable method in whick to carry it all.

You can always use an altoids tin and fit fire starting materials, water purification tabs, fishing gear, and some cordage in it. They you can use some old inner tube from a bicycle to attach it to the sheath.

I agree with Rockywolf as far as how to get a great PSK. I built mine from scratch but in hind site I should have just modified a Ritter PSK. You could transfer it to a Wisk container or an Otterbox.

Ritter PSP

Witz Case or Otterbox

What I would add to the Ritter PSP:

Micropur MP-1

Bark River PSK or Sak Lumberjack

I don't care for the idea of mounting it to your machete because if you loose one you loose it all. You could have a kydex holder made to mount on the machete like this one by Sharpshooter sheaths. It is at the bottom right of the page.

I would wrap the sheath in paracord.

As far as water I meant water purifacation I don't intend to carry water on the sheath. Sorry for not being clear. Thanks for the great ideas.

Agree with J. But get a better flashlight than the nano perhaps a surefire with a led dropin if it is within your budget quite reliable and well made.
