Knife grinder table

I have a chance to buy something called a knife grinder table for $100.

I have never seen one before and need some info to see if I should get it.

It is basically a 24" x 36" or so metal table with a 1/2 hp motor suspended by bars that points down like a drill press. The motor has several attachments such as stones to work the steel. The motor can be moved up and down but not adjustable speed. The table looks like it had some sort of moving vice like a mill but it's gone now.

Any help is appreciated.

sounds like a surface grinder... Does it look like this?

No, the motor is vertical with the shaft pointing down

If it looks like this it's made for grinding/sharpening planer and joiner type blades. Don't really see how it could be of use for a knife maker.

The metal tag on it says "Knife Grinder Table". I'll get pictures this week

Mark, it's like that but I don't know if the motor tilts... It may. Closer to that than any other pictures
