Knife grinder

what is the angle pro grinding jig?
It's a magnetic adjustable angle jig that holds the blade at the set angle. I took one down to a get together at Johnny Stouts a while back and everyone liked it. We had 6 or 7 people grinding on the same blade and it still came out.

I'll make another post of just it.

Unfortunately the holiday season has kicked my wallet into another time zone but I'm interested in one of these in the future when I recover from the holidays. Is that $1500 with the motor included?

Sounds good fletch I'm getting booked up on the knife jigs anyway it will be at least a month before I could get another one made anyway.

Yes$ 1500.00 gets the complete grinder with 2 HP motor VFD 2 wheel platten 10" wheel and 1/2" wheel each on its own arm. The only thing I would add is the grinding jig for $100.00
I'll have to get a quote on shipping or would deliver free to Arkansas or Atlanta blade show.

Here is a photo of one that is completed.
Its mine and has been in service for about a year.
It has the 18" work rest and red anodized wheels.

The tall yellow post on left is what I call the Christmas tree. It holds the extra arms that are not being used.

looks sweet. I'm up in BC and I'm thinking about getting something like this .possibly in the new year. I take it the speed is adjustable?

Yes the speed is infinitely adjustable. I'm not a big time maker I only can make a few of these a year but at an unbeatable price. I do all the work myself from cutting the steel mill and lathe work welding. I make all of the wheels except for the 10" one which is from Grizzly. I take it and bore out the hub for bearings .

On the deluxe models I even Anodize the wheels and knobs. This alone takes 2 or 3 days to complete because they first have to be polished to a mirror shine then anodized.

Nice looking grinder, Jim!

Would you be willing to build one out without motor and controls, and what might a rough price on that be?

It looks like I have a buddy from the UK that will be visiting early in the year and he is bringing me a box of PM DC motors to experiment with, and I don't want to monkey with the primary grinder for all of that.

Also, that magnetic jig looks super sweet. I think I will have to order one of those either way.

Maybe but it would be difficult. After the frame is constructed I mount the motor and drive wheel then line everything else up off of it.

Jim's Angle Pro grinding fixture works great We played around with it a few weeks back at my work/play day here at my shop. Six or seven different guys used it and their grinds all turned out good. His 2"X72" belt grinder is a bargain. Perfect as a main grinder, or a 2nd grinder if you already have one. I've got my eye on one of his new rolling mills that he's working on. Can't wait!!

Thanks for the kind words. It means a lot coming fort an artist like you.

Looking forward to your hammer in.

If you don't know Johnny Stout, check out Johnny Stout custom Knives on the web the man is a master.

Rolling mill, wha?!? I would be excited to see that too.

No worries, Jim. I just figured since you had the thread up, and I was considering being lazy about it and not just building a second machine myself that I would ask. :)

But seriously, let us know about this mill. Really. I'm guessing that some of the forgers around here would be stoked (pardon the pun) about something like that if it is the type of mill I am familiar with.

There are some photos of it here on "rolling mill build" in the hammer & tongs section. We tried it out at Johnny's and it worked but I fond a couple of improvements I need to make. Just been too busy to get them done.
