Wow! A paper on knives, for school? Why does this sound so familiar to me? :)

I'm 16 as well. I feel like we should know each other or something.
 
Discussion about locks came up in another topic and I thought you might like to also consider using patent documents as another primary source.

For example, here's the traditional liner lock patent published in 1906

This style is still used today on some traditional knives.

Michael Walker modified it and his "Walker liner lock" is very popular on modern knives today.
