Found this at a local consignment shop for $15. Looks like an old bushcraft knife. tang stamp says RH PAL 50, Made in USA. The blade is a little blemished but isn't bent or chipped. the pommel is a little lose and there is some damage on the handle.

can anyone help with resources about the knife or the company that made it?

PAL made knives on Remington machinery starting in 1940. They used Remington's numbering system. The RH-50 was a boy scout knife made in several variations. They were excellent knives.

Coincidentally...earlier this evening, I quoted the wrong 1940 date given in Goins' Encyclopedia during a discussion elsewhere on the net. I'll pencil in the correct 1941 date in my copy of Goins' Encyclopedia.

They just might! But since it is back open, maybe we should share some pictures of Pal knives:

From the guidelines:
Thread "necromancy" is frowned upon. Please do not resurrect dormant threads simply to say "nice knife" or the like.
If you have something substantive to add to the discussion then by all means do so, otherwise move on and let sleeping dogs lie.

Looks OK to me.
