Anyone else wish there was one?
I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what it is, and normally don't mind asking "what knife is that?"
But there are times when I wish I had a quick reference just to go "ahh that's what it was"

I do often notice though, it's the ones that I can't figure out right away that end up being a Wally World special or cheap gas station knife

It will never happen but it sure would be a lot of fun. No more approaching a stranger only to find out he(or she) is a complete slim ball. Just pull out your "Knife Spotter's Field Guide."

Of course, some companies already help us with consistent clip designs through most of their product line. Benchmade, Cold Steel and Spyderco come to mind.

Yes I am still wondering what that knife I saw was (just the top of the clip) that had two screws going vertically into the end of the handle and just a ninety degree bend in the clip. It was in a rich guy's pocket so I'm thinking it was at least better than gas station.

Maybe approach The Audubon field guide dudes. After all pocket knives are part of "Nature" . . . human nature. I bet most people using field guides are carrying a pocket knife. They can take the shots with one of their other guides as back drop. Hey . . . win / win right ?

I don't know.

As long as we have guides full of photos of insects mating we may as well have guides with photos of guys carrying around pocket knives.

Ironic that the knife I used to hold the book open has no clip.

It HAD a clip....

I've only ever seen benchmades spydercos and "China" knives so I don't need a field guide
