Hi All,

I have been going thru and selling quite a few of the knives that I got from my father. I am not a collector that will put his knives in a safe and hope that they go up in value, so I really do not want any safe queens. I have a a couple of knives that I am having a hard time determining what to do.

LC11500 (Lone Wolf). From the research that I have done I found that these a really rare, something like 36 made; 13 lost in a scam therefore only 23 left etc (I am not sure I believe it, but it is on the internet right :) ) One is listed on that favorite auction site for $1500. I like the action of the knife, but it is not what I would call an EDC. If I could sell this knife for even 1/3-1/2 of this I could get a CRK Mnandi that I would EDC. The main question I have is where would be the best place to get a value for this knife? I have emailed Brian Tighe about this knife and he emailed back saying he didn't know QTYs and such.

I also have a LC10000. This knife appears to be more common. It looks like I could carry it, but once again I think I would rather have a Mnandi.

I just don't want to list them in the exchange area for too much or leave $ on the table.

Or am I crazy for looking to sell them....

As tempting as it would be to sell it for $1500(or any amount), I personally would keep it if it came from my father.

I agree with Crunky. I wouldn't sell them. The sentimental value is worth more.

I received well over 180 knives. I am keeping many of his edc knives. I did not even know he had these knives, they were in the back of the display case, so they really do not have any sentimental value. His spydie millie he carried, his boy scout knives, his buck 110, the unknown knife that was his fathers, the gun that was my great gra fathers, etc. Those are the ones with value. The lone wolf safe queens do not have that same value.

When we talked about knives we only talked about his edcs, metal types, but never about damascus steel, or safe queens. He even laughed at the amount of knives he didn't use.

My question really still is where would I find a fair value, or is it a grail knife? It doesn't have sentimental value, and all things equal I would rather have a crk mnandi.

Hi,
the way that i see it, is if your father collected them, then they should all be special.
It seems that he collected what he liked. Enjoy them, cherish them, i wish that my father
had collected blades. You are very lucky!
Just my two cents,
charlie

If he says they aren't particularly sentimental...then why shouldn't he sell them?
Why not make a dollar and let someone else appreciate them?
Sorry pcb105...I know nothing of what the knives might be worth...good luck though.

Hi huntbomb,
thanks for the input, I was merely trying to point out that he might be making a mistake
by selling them. I personally would love to score a harsey, and if he sold me one, and
Later realized its value, it would be to late to take the deal back.every one's values are
Different, maybe he has a nice one for you. I only wish him the best of luck in whatever he decides!
Thanks for getting back to me,
Charlie

Your best bet on getting close to real market value is to go to the competitive market, i.e., an auction site which is well-scrutinized by knife afficianados.
