Knife Law -- How to Find Out

Does anyone know how to go about finding out what the knife law is for their state. I called my local police department but did not get much more than a "I think its...." and I called the State Patrol, they said they thought it was locally set. I would like to know exactly what it is. Is there a website that someone knows about? Or does anyone know what state dept. or office should be contacted?

Thanks for your help!!

According to the AKTI website, only California & Arkansas state laws are listed. The rest will be added at a future date. They do have a bunch of links and a general guide to understanding knife laws, but it seems a bit cumbersome to find specific state knife laws. Here's a link to their legal page:

And watch for those local ordinances.

In Richmond, VA, for instance, you need a police permit to buy a Bowie knife.
