Knife laws in Germany and Switzerland?

French Kiss,
while our knife laws are definitely better than in most European countries and even most (if not all) states of the US (thank God), unfortunately we got plenty of stupid gun legislation...

Austria doesn't have any knife laws at all!

First Post for me here, so please excuse my grammar.

I´ve been reading about Turks in this thread for several times now, and there is somethig I have to annotate:
When Germans talk about Turks considering violence in general, they usualy mean the generation of 14 to 20 year old males. (Hm, hard to phrase...)

Those youngsters tend to be somewhat "sultry". The older ones on the other hand are usually proud of being pretty self-composed. They are mostly harmless and very friendly. I can tell that cause three of my best friends are Turks.

So the only Turks to "worry about" would be some kids, who might already be impressed and deterred by some hard words or a simple slap in the face (if necessary) as far as my experience goes. Actually nothing to be afraid of.

But talking about bad neighborhoods...
There really ARE some parts of the major cities, one should never walk in alone or at night.
Forget about Turks, Albanians, "Gypsies" (I havent seen Gypsies in german cities yet) and even "russians" (we do have quiet a lot of those).

Remember the headlines of the early nineties in Germany? Burning houses of foreign citizens? Skinheads hunting an killing foreigners? Don´t you think these hooligans are away. They are not.
There are several town districts -especially in the former states of the "DDR"- which are full of ´em. You wouldn´t like to enter certain parts of Rostock, Dresden or even Berlin at all. Good chance to get smacked up at least.

With the unemployment increasing , the neo-nazi gangs don´t have any problems to recruit new members for their organisations every day.
In these districts large blocks exist, where literally no one does have a job, a prospect or even a future. This creates an enormous frustration amongst the youngsters, pushing them into gangs. Quite similar to some slums in the US, I´ve seen...

And believe me: Walking through an area as this will get you into severe trouble for sure. There are quite a lot of these town districts in germany I would never ever enter without at least ten big guys around me. And I am a colossus...

I don´t know wether my gibbering is comprehensible or not, but i needed to express my basic thoughts on this. ;)
hm, fishing for compliments. sorry ´bout that.

Thanks for reading.
regards

Don't be sorry, and welcome on the forums! I believe your words, and confirm that violence is not correlated to a nationality or any ethnic parameter you could think of (that 's a politician game to use such demagogic argument), it's more a question about believing in hate or not... it's easy to cultivate hate among people who don't have a personality strong enough to say: "go to hell, I don't need you to think for me", then it's even easier to devilize a part of the society to explain all the problems, and there are lots of people who takes big political and financial benefits emulating violence... but let's not darken the picture more than needed, good things happen too in this world, it's just not sensational enough for the media to make money with :)
