Knife Laws in Italy

Anyone aware of whether a 3" locking folder is legal in Italy?

It looks like knife carry isn't allowed unless you can prove a legal reason for it. (Similar to New Jersey's laws in the States)

I was on vacation in Tuscany/Umbria 3 years ago, and I actually bought a large SAK in Orvieto(An absolute must see along with the town of Cortona). Generally they don't seem to mind SAK's/Leathermans, but I would be cautious about a locking folder or fixed blade.
