Knife Lube: What's your method?

Unicorn Snot is the best I have found so far.
When I run out, I use Reel Butter, I has a anti gum/gunk feature. I find it to work incredible on knives that I use in wet/dusty conditions. Pacific Salt H1 comes to mind.

Well, I just ordered some Frog Lube. Since there is some actual proof on YT that it at least has decent corrosion protection. I wanted to try the Nano lube but if it has microscopic diamond balls in it then those diamonds will shatter with use and become abrasive. Don't want that. I thought I read somewhere that it was described like that, I may be wrong. I'll need to see scientific proof that it does more than what people who have just spent 20 dollars on it say it does. Because I wouldn't want to be seen as a fool who just flushed 20 bucks down the toilet to say its no different than synthetic motor oil. I'll never know.

Frog Lube is good stuff... if you use it properly. Nano Oil does not have "diamond balls" in it. You're thinking of Nanotech Lubricants - and there is no love lost between them and Mr. St. Clair who makes Nano Oil.

All I use is "Life Brand heavy mineral oil U.S.P.", you can get a bottle at your local pharmacy, 500ml of it for cheap. It's food safe and won't go rancid like olive or vegetable oil.

I have been using Frog Lube, I picked some up to try on my firearms, It worked OK but is far to expensive for as much as I shoot, So I reverted back to Ed's Red. I tried it on a few of my knives and it works very well, and with what I had left over it should be a lifetime supply.

3 in 1 oil and WD40 for all my knifes, anything from brass washers to ball-bearings,these two seem to work best for me!i say'if its not broke!why fix it.:D

What are people using on teflon washers?

My Wilson Combat Eagle was driving me nuts with a sluggish pivot and poor flipping action. After lots of attempts with various lubricants and none, I tried TriFlow which contains PTFE (Teflon) and it works great. Knife is smoother than ever and flips like a champ now. See my thread here:

For my Chris Reeve Knives, I use fluorinated grease (Finish Line Extreme Flouro--also Teflon) and for everything else I use StClaire NanoOil. I like the 5W in that, but also use the 10W. The precision-needle oiler pens are great and you can add a tiny amount to any pivot with great results. I haven't tried StClaire's NanoGrease, but may give that a shot sometime. Christian called me on his cell last year after I had emailed him with a problem and was generous with his time and his product.

Edit: After cleaning, polishing the washers, and lubing the Sebenza 25 I just picked up on the Exchange, I found it still somewhat sluggish. For the heck of it, I cleaned out the fluorinated grease and used 10W NanoOil instead--seems much smoother and moves more freely now. I think I'll go that way with my CRKs when they come up for cleaning and see how it goes. I've always been vaguely dissatisfied with using grease.

I've found the keys to any pivot lubrication are clean surfaces and location-controlled application using small amounts. Lubing with the knife broken down is the best way to achieve this.

Just keep your lube off any blade tang and lock bar interface as it makes lock-stick exponentially worse. You can clean those surfaces repeatedly with alcohol and a QTip or pipe cleaner after the fact if your lube has migrated.

I have a whole array of stuff, but 9 times out of 10 it's just RemOil. I keep a couple 1cc insulin syringes full of it on the bench. Makes for nice, controlled, direct applications.

I usually use a synthetic fishing reel lube "Hot Sauce" or St.Claires Nano Oil. I've also used good old Marvel Mystery Oil.
