Me and my mom were talking a while back about how cool it would be to buy a car for your kid from the year he was born. Long story short, I want a knife made the year I was born; 1994, any suggestions?
Also, if anyone else has anything like this, let us know what it is. Bonus points for pictures.

Maybe the folk at the Bernard Levine forum could help in your quest, especially if you have a type of knife and brand in mind. A Camillus collector, for example, could run off knives made in a period that INCLUDES 1994 and perhaps even knives perculiar to 1994.

And A.G. Russel turns out annual collector knives marked with years. Sometimes he keeps some to sell years later or could give a target to look for on eBay.

Have you tried searching ebay for (knife, knives) 1994 ? (I'm gonna' go look.)

Great quest.

The biggest problem you're going to have, most knife models are in production for more than a single year. Sure you could find a knife catalog from 1994 and pick out a knife from it, but how will you know it wasn't actually made in 1993 or 1995? Heck, some knives are made for decades.

Check out Case knives. They are one of the few mass-production brands to code each knife with a year. Maybe Buck too?
Or look for customs, First Production, Limited Edition, commemoratives, or other collectors items that are marked with the year.

I'll rummage through the collection and see if I have anything from 1994 specifically...

I just don't know much about knives from back then, so I was wondering if anyone older than me could tell me who made good knives, and if there was something that was really big in the 90s. I like Buck, Case, and Camillus, but thats really all I know about. I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to buy; just trying to find some names.
I rather like some of the Case trapper knives from around then; I found several on Ebay.

Back then. Hoo boy. I retired in in 1992. :(

Got any knives from the year I was born?
Sure, how about this chipped flint scraper?

Gerber! Back in their hey-day. I wasn't into knives then, so I am not sure if they had Limited Runs. If you look around, you could get lucky.

Also a couple of Case Coca-Cola bottle knives.

From what I recall in the 1990s, here were a few of the most popular, most commonly available, and most interesting:
Gerber, practically their entire line: Gator, EZ-Out, Silver Knights, LST
Buck, like the BuckLite and Nighthawk
Benchmark
Ek, from Effingham, Illinois
The short-lived Soque River
Meyerco
Puma, from Germany
Forever popular, Opinel and Victorinox.

In 1994 I lived a few miles from the AG Russell showroom (an old farm house back then). I still have most of the old catalogs. :)

Queen is a very respectable brand.

I'd want to know who made those Remington's before I considered them. Some thus branded are quit good, and some are junk. Certainly not Remington itself, which got out of knife-making before WWII. In other words, this is a lie:
Remington is primarily known for making guns and ammunition since it was founded in 1816. However, what you may not know is that since the 1920s Remington has made knives considered as some of the most highly collectible and highest quality ever made. Today, Remington's knives are made in the USA, Italy, and China. All of them are built to last from the best materials. Remington knives are designed in all types of styles. From classic Heritage Series knives to the modern Premier Series there are so many to choose from! I've made this list to introduce Remington knives to all knife and outdoor lovers who may not know of them.

I bought a Camillus SS military camp knife a few years ago made in 1978 ( year I was born ).

They are perfect because the year is on the blade tang.
Also very easy to find on ebay.

Also the Ontario Pilot Survival Knives have the date on the pommel.

I dug through a few boxes and came up with several knives with dates. Some were close to 1994, but no cigar. :(
1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996...

I have a camp knife from 1983 and a Camillus pilot survival knife from 1971. The Ontario looks exactly like the Camillus; were they the same brand or something? Just wondering.
Thanks for looking, Bob. Sounds like you have a nice collection there.

I think they just made Radio Flyers and rubber knives in 1994 - sorry. :p
