Knife maker membership level

OK my BF friends...I have just now changed my membership from Gold to "Knifemaker - Craftsman - Service Provider" . And I would like to clarify why I did so.

It is NOT because I consider my work to be at the same level as most of my colleagues here; in fact I find the title to be a bit embarrassing given that I have been making knives for a little less than a year. And it is not because I have been selling knives on BF or even trying to. But I recently went through the sticky that Stacy has basically saying if you make knives then be a "Knifemaker" and that kind of fits where I am at this point. And it's because I have sold 8 knives in the last year with several more now on order though none of these sales has been on BF. So I guess it just seemed the right thing to do.

I hope none of you REAL pros will object to my humbly joining your club. I have truly benefitted from advice from many of you.

Thanks

Steve

I am a buyer-user-collector but would simply say "good" for you. Go for it and get some stuff up on BF so we can buy it.

Welcome to the club ;) My knives are nowhere near some of these guys either, but there's room for all skill levels. This site is where I have learned everything I know about knife making (well that AND getting my hands dirty).

Looking forward to seeing your knives.

I've been paying as a knifemaker for years now because it's good to support the forum and because I do make knives. Just not that many of them and strictly as a hobby.

There's no reason to worry that "real" or professional members will resent your support.

Is this the rookie thread?:D

Congrats! No ones called me out for not being a pro yet so I think you'll be fine;)

What!!!! Heresy!!

Nah, you're cool. I feel like it's supporting the forum. I just bought my three year membership, which comes with a subforum. Hopefully it gets set up soon.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work and continuing improvement.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! Later today I will try to get a pic or two on the "gallery". And it won't be with intent to sell any thing (they already have new homes) or to impress the pros. Just to show where I am at this point.:o

I think you can edit the "KnifeMaker / Craftsman / Service Provider" title to something that reflects your situation more closely if you want to
