Brand new to knife making and could use some direction. First, is there a good magazine that focuses mostly on handmade knives? The ones that I have seen seem to be primarily tactical, or historical with little else.

Secondly, I am having trouble finding a drill bit that will cut through Damascus for mosaic pins. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Blade magazine,Knives Illustrated unhardened damascus any decent quality drill bit, hardened damascus carbide bits

If you can't drill your damascus it's hard try a locksmith bit or make your damascus soft.

You can also use masonry bits on hardened or semi-hardened. Start small, work your way up. Or, as David said, heat it back a little if you can do so without screwing with the HT on the edge.

I use a set of Irwin Industrial Cobalt alloy bits. They're absolutely fantastic. I got the set a few months ago for $80 so they're a bit pricey but drilling D2 with them is like pine with any other bits I've used. They're also nice in that they're cobalt alloy, not coated, so you can sharpen them unlike a lot of other bits.
