Knife Makers vise

Canranger,
I have one which I built from 2" pipe and fittings. All was available from the hardware
store. It's free standing (won't tie up your bench vice).

I'll be glad to send you a pic, if you like. then maybe you can post it
for others.

Hey Abe
I have a set of dwgs. around here for building the "Moran Vise" . I'll dig them up and either scan them or mail them if you like. The only thing is its a bit more work than what Karl's is but the blade can go right through the vise and doesn't limit the length of blade it will hold. The dwgs. are from an old article in blade or knives illustrated. Paul

The attatched photo....if it worked...is of a vice I built several years ago from
readily available, hardware store stuff. No welding involved, just some drilling and
tapping for the set screws.
Its vary rigid, and versatile....swivels and pivots, and is height adjustable by
replacing the upright with a longer piece of pipe.
The elbow can be removed, and the clamp can be screwed to the upright, so
as to hold the knife vertical.

Hi Mark, Thanks. It's pretty handy, and
dosent cost alot to build.

If you are lazy like me, just hop onto Uncle Al's website:D

the one I made...
