Does anyone know if there is a knife making dictionary or something similar out there? Terms and definitions can be some of the hardest things for me to remember, (especially when learning new things) and id like to have something I can use when i don't have google to look it up. A book would be preferred, but something I can download/print would work just as well.

Many books on knifemaking have glossaries and indexes. There are lots of online references, too. Perhaps printing out a feew and/or making a database list of your own woud be the best solution. You can post your list here for suggestions, corrections, and additions and it will also help others.

The Bladeforums google search engine is one of the best ways to find past threads about names and meanings.

For instance, a search for "Knife Trerminology" gets lots of suggestions, including this one:

Of course, a google searck gives all these ( which would print out to make quite a glossary book):

"A lot" is a bit of an understatement. I got 60 pages of terms/definitions alone. If I printed the pictures and diagrams with it i might have 75+ pages.

Not only that but its constantly evolving.

A Tanto tip Chisel grind, recurve fighter was deep stuff when I started in 96. Now they are ebay specials.
