That reminds me of the construction crew I saw in the Philippines, working in a utilities trench beside the road and wearing flip flops.

This video was quite entertaining. Certainly not what I had in mind when I thought about Pakistani knives. My only issue with the knives that they were making was that the tang/blade junction was not radiused. I wonder what steels they use and how good the heat treatment is. The equipment is obviously well used, I wonder how many knives this one shop puts out.

Yes. What a waste of time to build that knife at all.

They also looked to be leaning pretty hard on that grinding wheel during sharpening, probably building a lot of heat at the edge very quickly.
 
Pakistan has impressive manufacturing equipment, but poor steel selection and inadequate heat control during grinding negatively affect the quality of their knives. In fact, my workshop equipment is not even 10% of what they have.
 
They need to make themselves some chairs man. My knees hurt just from seeing all that Indian style floor sitting.
 
What I find ironic is that the video was released presumably to put Pakistani knife makers in a positive light. And that probably most of the non knife literate world would see this and have a positive response to it. But that’s just a theory.
