Knife making text(s)?

If someone wanted to learn how to make knives and knew nothing about it, what text(s) would you recommend as a starting point?

To oth of those books, I'd add "Wonder of Knifemaking" and "$50 Knife Shop" by Goddard. Hmmm read the last 100 pages of the maker's forum here. Figure out how you plan on making knives and just start...... I usually tell beginners we shouldn't be called "makers" we should be called "knifefinishers" a lot of people start their first knife, fewer finish their first knife and most never make a second knife.

As a modification to Will's response, I'd also recommend reading every (working) link on the "***Newbies , Good info Here***" sticky in the Shop Talk (knifemaker's) sub-forum.
