I've been wanting to get into knife making for a while. Im wondering what i need to start. I want to start with the minimalistic products and I'm not wanting to spend too much. If any of you have experience or tips that would be helpful please let me know what i need.
(I am wanting to make knives from rasps, railroad spikes, ect. Via forgery)

If you go to the knifemaker's section and read through the stickies you'll find a lot of relevant information you're looking for.

you will need anvil, hammers, forge, grinder, coolant tank for quenching and you can use a toaster oven or regular oven for tempering, forge is for forging and hardening. railroad spikes and mild steel require a different quench. any questions you can email me.

Tactical, please fill out your profile....there may be smiths around the corner from where you live who might like to lend you a hand.

Depends on if you want to forge, or do stock removal. Anvils can be somewhat cost prohibitive, especially if they're in good shape. However, you can start stock removal with fairly inexpensive equipment.
Definitely read the stickies... lots of great info in them.

Walter Sorrells has a pretty good YouTube video on the 10 tools needed for making knives by stock removal.
