Knife making's basic rule........

The three greatest things about knifemaking;

1. The friendships.

2. The appreciation of all your hard work by someone who understands what went into it.

3. That shop full of tools!

"Knife making is a lifetime of buying tools.
Then you die."

Jerry Rados

Sounds like another way of saying that heaven is here on earth. Well, that's my interpretation anyway. Maybe the afterlife is just a blimp-hangar sized shop and an endless budget, though.

Lord, when I die... please don't let my wife sell my tools for what I told her I paid!

Some of you will laugh at this: When I first started to sell quite a few knives I thought "hey, I'm going to be able to pay for all my equipment, supplies, and small tools and then make a profit." I didn't know then that I would spend the income every month on more and better tools and more supplies. I know now that there will never be a profit that is financial. I was deluded but at least I have some cool tools now. Larry

The original post is disheartening to say the least.

Love those tools though.

Not looking forward to moving them as Mr. Hanson mentions.

:(

Indeed, Karl. Wise words from Jerry, I've quoted them often.

I like the other Jerry's rule as well... the pointy end goes away from you.
