Knife money magically appears in your pocket. What's the next knife you buy?

I'm not sure of prices, that and I understand at least one of the maker's is no longer taking orders . . . and feel free to swap price categories if I'm way off . . .
but . . .
  • $1000 Phil Wilson Utility knife around 3.5 to 4 inch. Very thin behind the edge (.004" to .006"), not very wide and about 2mm at the spine. His famous CPM 10V or I'd even settle for his M4 :D.
  • $2000 a custom Large Single Blade Trapper from Tony Bose or T. A. Davidson off the exchange in the best steel I could get and or sneak a Phil Wilson blade into the Trapper (as if that were even any kind of a realistic option). Ebony would work or Black Water Buffalo horn etc.
I hope that's not too far off the mark of what you asked for.
Other than those I have about all the knives I could ever want.
. . . well there's still that antique, well carried and used but in great shape, Sunfish that I have always wanted. Complete with provenance of the workman (workmen) that have carried it; where, when what their work was etc. A few weeks ago I stumbled on some such and I think I saw prices well above $2,000 !

That sucks because I really wanted to have one some day.

  • $100 2 Buck 110
  • $150 Benchmade Rift
  • $220 Spyderco Shaman

With unlimited, I'm buying all the knives I want. :)
All the Smatchet variations.
Bunch of fancy traditional patterns with mammoth ivory and bog oak.
There's a vintage Cold Steel Vaquero I'm eyeing at the moment...
Bunch of Medfords.
Lot's of ZT's.
All the Emersons along with the custom versions...since I have unlimited money. ;)
Probably need most of the Spyderco lineup.
That folding version of the Tracker by Fox knives looks cool.
An authentic ethnic design from every region of the world; I'll add the airfare travelling there to the cost of the knife.

And that's just getting started...

I LOVE unlimited money!!! :D

Here are two of my choices based on current pricing, they could be swapped if sale prices and tax + shipping aren't counted.
Under $60 ?
Buck 113 ranger skinner, let's pretend this magic money already happened because I just ordered one the other day for $56 from C&C's black Friday sale.

Under $100 ?
Case Canoe in amber jigged and CV.

They're just under $60 but with tax and shipping it would come in over the $60 mark.

I have yet to break $100 for a knife and really don't plan on it, I just don't need to when there's still so much vintage stuff to look for when if i run out of new to buy in this price range.

The only knives I’d like to have is a Higo and a Mnandi. I’ll probably buy the Mnandi this spring and the Higo will be eventually

Due to some unexpected circumstances, I was able to handle a Fiddelback Production Duke, and it felt good in the hand, so it would be that one. And for just out of curiosity, I would like a Buck 117 in 5160.

After buying almost a dozen great folders and fixed blades in the $200 to $700 range over the last year or so I began to look at $2K to $3K customs this weekend. Specifically Shiros and Burgers.

Then I regained my senses and started planning another hunt in Africa. It’s been 18 years since my last one.

“Go while you still can.”, reverberates in my head.

Sorry I went off topic, guys and gals.

Just found a great Christmas deal on the BUCK 117 in 5160 in dymond wood. So I just participated in Cyber-Monday.

$50: probably just some custom scales for my Tenacious

$100: Benchmade 531 Pardue (currently on sale)

$150: PM2 with a bit of work done on it

$200: there's a few ZTs I like. I'm bad with numbers, sorry

$250: WE knives 704

$300: I honestly don't even know what's available in this price range, or many above it

A few grail knives: Benchmade 42 ($500, I've heard), Benchmade bugout gold class ($750), and a specific Sebenza 21 I've been interested in ($425)

EDIT: the Spyderco Slysz Bowie and Nirvana are also grails for me, but I don't even know what they sell for on the secondary market

This is about the next knife you would buy, not some abstract "ideal" knife for the budget. For the sake of the thread, imagine the knife is readily available. Up to you if you're using retail or secondary market pricing. Which knives would you buy with with the following price limits (or pick and choose any combination). Pics are welcome:

  • $60
  • $100
  • $150
  • $220
  • $300
  • $600
  • $1000
  • $2000
  • Unlimited
$60 = nothing I’m interested in at this price point.
$100 = Griptillian
$150 = Manix2 DLC
$220 = Shaman DLC
$300 = 2 knives , CS AD-10 and Yojimbo2
$600 = Large Sebenza 21 with CGG
$1000 = Medford Praetorian T S90V
$2000 = A custom from one of the makers here on the forums (Extreme Addiction I think is the name).
Unlimited = I’d probably but multiple knives instead of one super expensive knife.

And I’d buy all brand new knives from a dealer.

$60 ... three "thorn proof" tubes for my trike, and maybe a Imperial stockman if there is enough left over.

"unlimited": Maybe a nice used car and a sub $20 Rough Rider stockman

Probably a John April pocket Loveless. However, it would have to be adequately used and priced, so I would not be afraid to carry it. And, the money would disintegrate if I bought anything except a knife.
