I make a few Turkey Calls every year. They are called "Paranoid Turkey Calls" in the center of the call i place a Turkey foot medallion. Anyway i was thinking of marking my blades that im starting to make. So here are a few questions.

1. What do you think of a circle pattern " Paranoid Knife Works" with a turkey print in the middle?
2. Several people talk about bad etches, what happens in a bad etch?
3. Just starting out, should i bite the bullet and build a $70 etcher or do the q-tip thing for a while. I really dont have very much equipment to start out with.

Thanks.

I guess there is a point when there is too much information on the blade also.
Such as your name and knife name or something.
Is there a certain size you should stay at?

I'd say your name, or your company name (Paranoid Knife Works) and add your location (state) so that if someone wants to find you later they will have a much better chance of doing so.

I recommend biting the bullet and building the etcher. I've tried both and the etching machine is much better and easier to work. The results are much nicer. Get your stencils made and you'll be set.

Here's another vote for your name. Someone might see a blade of yours a few years down the road. With a name on it, they'll be much easier able to find you and place an order. City and state are also a good idea.
