I'll move this over from the other thread:

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Eric, was the one we came up with in the "Emerson Chat" the other night used?

Given how sharp MTs products always are out of the box and the moved practiced with the knives, we came up with "De-fingerizer".

Ewww, "De-Fingerizer" . . . Defier!!

From Webster:

Main Entry: de·fi·er
Pronunciation: di-'fI(-&)r
Function: noun
Date: 1585
: one that defies

I hope that this hasn’t been done already…
If one looks at the entymology of the names of earlier Microtech products:
Vector - carrier (apparently used in the medecine world)
Kestrel - old world falcons
Nemesis - Greek goddess of retributive justice
Chameleon- chameleont
Socom - Special Operations COMmand
U.D.T - Underwater Demolition Team
Hawk- hawk (bird of prey)
Combat talon - fighting claw (of bird of prey)
H.A.L.O - High Altitude Low Opening
L.C.C – Lightfoot Compact Combat

So, we’ve got more then a few with a military heritage and a few from the bird-world, often suggesting high-speed, low-drag.
What can be combined to follow the ”path”??
Maybe…
1. H.A.H.O Raptor? (High Altitude High Opening + bird of prey)
2. Raptor-Tech? (bird of prey and tech from Microtech)
3. Psyche-Tech (psyche is Greek for butterfly and again tech from Microtech)
3. Vanesa (latin for butterfly)
4. Tony-Flipper (then again, maybe not…)
5. Dino-Tech (dino is latin for whirling and tech…)
6. 2Sharp!

7. ??

Anyway, fun competition!
(i make no claim to the words being 100% correct, i found'em on the net...)

This one just ocurred to me:

MT Mandrake

For those who don't know, mandrake is a plant with a forked root (two roots ... two handles ... get it?) Because this forked root often resembles the lower half of a man's body, many cultures believed them to contain demons. Thought that tied in nicely with the demon-in-every-blade belief of Phillipinos(?) that someone had mentioned earlier in the thread.

Also, nice to see that others have posted my "Moth" suggestion ...

Dunno if this has been said, but I haven't had time to go through all the responses:

Microtech Peregrine
MT Goshawk
MT Clarion (as in Clarinet, as in Benny Goodman, as in Swing! Get it?)

Tom

Aren't we done yet?

I originally posted the name "DragonFly" which I know is used by Spyderco; however, is the name trademarked or is "unprotected"?

Alrighty then! How about "Manong" (Filipino man) or "Filipino" (of or pertaining to the Philippines). Pardon my crude Filipino--I hope "Manong" is not a derogatory term. I think either would be appropriate due to the connection of balisongs with the Philippines.
