Transaction between onealaskan and myself. The knife is basically lost and I have been very patient. Saturday will be 3 weeks since the knife was shipped. He did not offer or take insurance, but claimed in the thread shipping was on him. I assumed insurance would be taken out on this caliber knife. When I'm a seller on this type of knife, I always signature confirmation and insure on an item that I can not afford to lose. I paid PP fees and he would pay shipping.

Regardless, the knife is in limbo and never delivered. He wants to split the cost and I totally disagree and recall reading that forum rules were that the buyer must ensure seller gets the knife. I was also under the impression insurance covers the seller. What say you? Help two parties come to a resolution.

This is for a Pohan Leu, so it's a big purchase for me. It really sucks this knife is lost at this time. Hope it shows up for all parties involved, but have my doubts.

Onealaskan also spoke of another package getting lost, so this seems not to be the first time this has happened. This should have been disclosed and insurance offered if he was not going to purchase it, if this is an occurence for him.

Up until this point, he has been open to communication and speedy in his responses, so kudos to him. Disagree that I should have to cover halfof the purchase.

Insurance protects the seller. That is my philosophy.

I put insurance on everything that I can't afford to write off.....

When I sell more expensive knives, it is registered mail, signature required. Full value. I try to include this in my asking price. If it is not selling for a price I'm comfortable taking that hit on for the insurance, I really can't afford to loose it outright!

So you know never assume, demand full price insurance and sig confirmation and a photo of the package before it's sent.

PayPal will not look at anything under three weeks. But you should file a claim for a full refund from them.

PayPal will want a tracking report from the delivery company. Go to your local PO and ask someone to track the package. They can often call another PO where item was last seen.

Good luck. Don't split the cost.

Do not split the cost, it is all on him. He should have gotten the insurance.

Please check your email. A response has been sent to you arranging for full refund as soon as USPS determines it is lost.

I would've appreciated you waiting for my full response prior to publishing this.

George

Closing thread; as buyer/seller will work privately once more. Mod can delete.
